The “member” assigned to my case was a dunderhead.Because my estimated expenditure was guesstimated (by me) at around $1300/week, which included approx $10,000 on my children’s school fees, the “member” assessed my income as $75,000.00 pre-tax, even though I told him that money came solely from my accumulated savings. He couldn’t get that FACT, into his head. With morons like that in the AAT, why would Australians have any confidence in it.

Very disappointing experience, I feel they rib me off! No help me and charge full expenses,No even start the process and charge me $1700.Think twice before you make any decisions with this department. They take advantage immigrant situation.I wouldn't recommend it to any one,Better to handle with lawyer and distant people.Again!Think carefully before any decision make.

I’m convinced there is no justice at the AAT. I complained about the Member’s lack of discernment, he did not grasp or comprehend the evidence before him. He disregarded over 20 pieces of evidence before him and was totally biased towards Comcare. As representatives of the law Members have responsibilities to seek out the truth, test the truth and tell the truth. This did not happen in my case so I complained about this injustice. The Registrar did nothing and he would not respond to my questions. I know he can’t change the decision, I just wanted answers but he has no backbone and closed my case.UPDATESo glad that the Government has the courage to abolish the AAT and will set up a new AAT body in the new year, read ABC News. This brings hope for people wanting government decisions reviewed by Members who have the skills, knowledge and integrity to make informed, fair and equitable decisions.

My sister's partner Visa got refused in the beginning of pandemic, while new weds were in overseas. My sister had to return to Aus before borders got closed down by herself. Leaving her husband there. She found out she was pregnant upon returning. She appealed her case as soon as coming back. She gave birth alone, she raised her daughter alone. Dad missed out on so much. Each time when we contacted AAT , they wouldn't give any update nor any info on this matter. My sister went back overseas with her daughter and still living there now. Her daughter is over 2 years old now. Still waiting.I got so happy reading the news on scrapping AAT .good on you Labor.
