It would be easy to drive right past this monument. It is situated next to a narrow stretch of road signposted ‘No Standing’. It is however worth the effort to stop and take the short walk to view and appreciate this monument. If you miss it on your way onto the Tasman Peninsula you can stop on the return journey as there is only one way in and one way out. It certainly sets the scene for a trip to Port Arthur and it is certainly a powerful reminder of our convict heritage and the hardships and tribulations they had to incur.

Easy to drive past this site. But, IF you're interested to know more about life in Port Arthur in its early days, this site might help to provide a bit more information.

First time we drove past this great part of history but after a visit in Port Arthur we came back. It's a small car park but the little museum is full of history and it's only a 5min walk to the statue of the dog line. It's all free and a great addition to the convict history at Port Arthur.

First you escape Port Arthur, then you have to get past the Dog line to get to...! What a time in history!

As a lover of mastiffs I had to find this sculpture to remember the history of the place. A short walk to get to the sculpture, just off the main road. No parking directly next to it, just so you know.
