Spoon Bay Campground
Easy access, even 2wd, nice place, plenty of room. Was no one else there but swarms of bees, flies and mosquitoes. Left next morning and will never come back again.

Nice and isolated, with facilities. Not busy, beautiful lake. Rare Parkland where hunting Duck and Hog Deer is legal, in season.

Free campground with toilets; very close to the lake. The area is separated into bays surrounded by trees, so it feels private. The day we arrived a huge swarm of jelly blubber had washed up on the beach. Also had some issues with mosquitoes too - even in June!

Great campsite right along the water. One of the better, scenic free campsites we've been to. Only has 1 drop toilet so maybe pack a shovel.

A relatively unknown and hard to get to campground. It only had one other camper there on Australia day which I guess is peak season. You could make it into there with a two wheel drive SUV since they have more ground clearance, but I wouldn't try anything smaller, and definitely not with a trailer unless you have something really heavy duty. The ground is all sandy so you risk getting bogged down hopelessly. There's a nice tent spot just before the main camp ground. Very worth it when you get there. you have access to the lake, great views and it's free. Take some bug spray.

Much nicer than the campsites along 90 Mile Beach. Secluded so not very crowded and plenty of space to set up. Long drop toilet and no showers or drinking water, so prepare to be at one with nature.

The camp site was quiet nice. Not much firewood and lake is very shallow.Dirt smells like poo because people have been not been using the toilet. No dogs allowed which is quiet disappointing.

Went here mid May. Totally Awesome.Road was rough but easy enough for a 2wd with a little bit of clearance. (we were in a large 4WD so no issues)Did not see a fly or a mozzie all weekendRemember though, it's in, and surrounded by a swamp and low lying water, Obviously there will be allot insects over the warmer months, just pack and prepare for them. Was there the last week end of duck season. Maybe wait for it to finish unless you like the sound of guns and outboard motors at 6:00am.Bay is very shallow (1.5m at its deep spots) and you need to travel a few KM to go for a fish.BUTAt the end of the day, GREAT SPOT and would probably be pretty quiet over the cooler months.
