Desert View Apartments

Look, reviews online give both positive and negative accounts of the Desert View Apartments and in my opinion it is really user beware. I dont have high standards, this isnt the worst accommodation but certainly isnt the best you will find in remote SA/NT. This was our second time staying in this accomodation but will now be our last.Honestly, the place is dated and no longer the cleanest accommodation and without an investments by the owner it will never improve. Not unusual when you have a captive market who pay premium for half way accommodation without any effort on the part of the owner.This time round the room was half made up and wasn't cleaned after the last guest. Beds half made up and a cleaning trolley left at the door, clearly interrupted half way through cleaning and forgot to finish. Called the after hours numbers, left messages and eventually a chap answered and came out immediately. He said it was a miscommunication on their part with the cleaner and of all things was concerned about a negative online review! Had he read all the others it probably wouldnt be a concern that there will be another.He was helpful and apologetic when he came out, found us some questionably clean bedding and towels. Great!.... but this won't fix the spider /cob webs in the bathroom, dirty dishes, floors, carpet with questionable stains ....etc etc. For the money you pay for this accomodation you expect some effort, like a front door that closes properly.We won't be back, I'll just drive through on the next trip like I did on the way down.Before I get the standard response of - 'this person didn't have a booking and this is not an honest review'... I'm happy to supply a booking reference if you have trouble finding it.

Livable and your only option for last minute travellers like us. People are friendly. The kettle was rusted and floor had imperfections but hey that's why these rooms are booked the last as compared to other ones

Super clean apartments (bleached to within an inch of it's life) full size kitchen and bathroom, stocked with all the utensils and appliances you could use for your stay. Great lounge room with recliners, super comfy beds. Good view of some of the town in a nice quite area. Take DVDS as there is no internet reception away from the kitchen area. Would definitely recommend.

Good value, clean rooms.Bed was comfortable

The apartments were not up to the standard of the photos.The beds have seen better days, especially the single beds as the girls could feel the springs in the mattresses and when we checked the slats underneath, some were missing or not properly on the bed. Consequently we had to adjust them to support the mattress better.The kitchen area needs a lot of TLC.The fridge was leaking so we had to put some towels on the floor.When using anything in the kitchen, we washed it first as cutlery and pans had a greasy residue on them.There was no dishwasher to properly clean and sterilise dishes, so cleanliness of the kitchen items is left up to the previous occupants.No hairdryer, no extra blankets, no washing machine.

Good communication from the manager, we arrived late. Clean large rooms but not what I expected for underground. Walls are chipped and poorly painted white, a combination of stone and besser brick. Furniture and kitchen is about 30/40 years old and needs a total refurbishment. Bathroom had a new toilet and vanity suite, but old mismatched and cracked tiling all needs replacing. WiFi did not work, but this maybe a consequence of underground " no desert views unless you stand in the drive way. Shabby no chic"

This place is not clean. Awful smell inside. Management doesn't even answer or reply your call/ emails. Stay out of this place. For this price you can book much better accommodation.

Had high expectations, however was dissatisfied and disappointed. Rooms were dirty and the doors didn’t open or close properly and constantly got stuck. I had to sleep on the couch due the the poor condition of the bed with broken slats and an outdated mattress. Doonas were as thin as tissue paper. Lots of the furniture was broken and needs replacing, the oven and stove top didn’t function. Amazing town with heaps to look at, however I would not recommend staying at Desert View Apartments.
