Rex Lookout
During my recent visit to Far North Queensland, Australia, I had the opportunity to visit Rex Lookout, and it turned out to be an awe-inspiring experience. Situated along the Captain Cook Highway near Wangetti Beach, Rex Lookout offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Coral Sea and the surrounding tropical landscape. Here is my review of Rex Lookout. The lookout itself is well-designed and provides ample space for visitors to enjoy the view. There are viewing platforms strategically positioned to offer the best angles, allowing you to take in the scenery from different perspectives. Whether you choose to stand at the edge of the lookout or sit on one of the benches provided, you're sure to be captivated by the breathtaking surroundings. It's an ideal spot to soak in the natural beauty of Far North Queensland.

Absolutely breathtaking. Definitely worth the stop. Plenty of car spots available. Good grass spot to let the dogs out for a break. You might even spot some hang gliders!

Nice lookout on the way back from port Douglas. Nothing special.. if you like scenery then this is for you. Be aware.. has limited parking here on the busy highway. During peak seasons won’t be able to park.

Rex Lookout
Rex Lookout, perched on the rugged coastline of Queensland, Australia, is a place that effortlessly merges the raw power of nature with breathtaking vistas that will leave you spellbound. As I stood there, gazing out at the vast expanse of the Coral Sea, it became abundantly clear why this place holds a special allure for adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike. The lookout itself is a simple structure, unpretentious yet perfectly positioned to offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Standing on the edge, with the wind tousling my hair and the sound of crashing waves reverberating in my ears, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of awe. The sheer cliffs, jutting out dramatically from the coastline, provided an awe-inspiring backdrop to the azure waters below.Rex Lookout is not just a feast for the eyes; it's a sensory experience that evokes a deep appreciation for the untamed beauty of Australia's wilderness. The salty breeze carries with it a hint of adventure, as if beckoning you to explore further and uncover the secrets hidden within this untamed landscape. For the more adventurous souls, Rex Lookout also serves as a gateway to thrilling activities that will get your adrenaline pumping. Hang gliders and paragliders dot the sky, their vibrant wings adding splashes of color to the already stunning tableau. Watching them take flight, soaring gracefully through the air, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy for their freedom and their ability to embrace the unknown. But even if you're not one to seek adrenaline-fueled adventures, Rex Lookout has something to offer everyone. Take a leisurely stroll along the cliff's edge, feeling the rough texture of the rocks beneath your fingertips, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the surroundings. Let the rhythmic crashing of the waves below wash away your worries and transport you to a place of serenity. As the sun sets, casting its golden hues across the horizon, Rex Lookout transforms into a magical realm. The sky becomes a canvas, painted with vibrant strokes of pink, orange, and purple. It's a moment that demands silence and reflection—a moment to appreciate the fleeting beauty of nature's masterpiece.Rex Lookout, with its commanding views and unyielding spirit, reminds us of the profound insignificance of our own existence in the grand scheme of things. It serves as a gentle reminder that the world is vast and filled with wonders waiting to be discovered. So, embrace the unknown, stand on the edge of Rex Lookout, and let the beauty of Queensland's coastline stir your soul.

Rex Lookout
Located on the Captain Cook Highway between Cairns and Port Douglas. Worth pulling over to take in the panoramic view of Trinity Bay from this lookout. Parking available on both sides of the road but can be quite busy. Popular with hang gliders. There is also a plaque to Raymond Rex but unfortunately this has been damaged.
