Absolutely brilliant hospital. Shout outs to nurses Hayley, Lynn & Donna who looked after me magnificently after my shoulder surgery on Friday 8 July and during post-op on Saturday 9 July.

some staff try very hard. a lot of nurses are rude and won’t actually listen to you when you try and say what the problem is. the ambulance took me there so that i would get my medication and a couple small wounds cleaned up, they put me in a room for roughly 3 hours and didn’t do either of these things, when i was in this on this room they just called my psychologist and had her speak to me then sent me on my way. i complained about a nurse and he now refuses entry and told me to “go ahead and complain again”, i hope that the staff get properly assessed and that they do something about the terrible workers.

My husband and I have had a variety of contacts with Portland Hospital. We have, almost without exception, found staff helpful, the atmosphere pleasant and welcoming, and the caring attitudes appearing quite warm and genuine. I did have one criticism, which I wrote to the hospital about and which was promptly dealt with, and followed up with a letter in return. Something in stark contrast with many of our experiences in hospitals and other medical facilities, both interstate and overseas, is how spontaneous and widespread the smiles and greetings are as you pass by staff in the buildings and grounds. This is not to forget the quality of care provided to us both as elderly patients which, as a retired health professional, I rate as being as good as anywhere, and better than much we have received in other places.

I attended today as a patient and was treated with utmost professionalism by the receptionist and the wonderful frontline nursing team. Thank you for the wonderful care provided.

A huge thankyou to all the wonderful nurses an doctors at this hospital received the best care and truly appreciate everyone I encountered at this hospital.

Triage nurse was very rude and seemed to think I was a junkie looking for pain relief in the emergency department. Very unprofessional and laughed at me saying “good luck” after seeking a doctor to assess me for the pain. Was advised to go to the ED after speaking to nurse oncall, doctor oncall.

My husband Steve was in for knee replacement this week we would like to say how great the staff were leading to the operation and knew there stuff the surgeon and his team did a fantastic job the ward staff did a great job caring for Steve and the physio crew were great too I have to go back in 8 weeks for the second knee thank you all the staff for a job well done looking forward to getting the second knee replacement. Had second knee done now once again fantastic job done by surgeon Mr Arogundade the staff in North ward were outstanding and great job again by the physio team thank you all so much great respect for the Portland Hospital and the work they do

Some staff are quite helpful and professional but the remainder are incompetent and don't seem to know their job and show they don't really care. It was an awful experience being an inpatient there and it's left me somewhat traumatised. To be fair, the cleaners are brilliant. The blood lady is great. Nurses are a real mixed bag, as above. Other departments could use a shake up. I just hope I never need to use this service again.back there.
