PRN Healthcare
I've been working for PRN Healthcare for the last 5 years as an AIN. In that time, I've worked across dozens of facilities and hundreds of households (back when we used to do community runs as we called them). Working at a new facility is challenging, but after my first year or so it became routine to hit the ground running and quickly adjust to the many minute policy differences between each company. Some facilities we go to only once in a blue moon, others quickly become familiar. As things stand now - with the current climate of Covid - the demand for agency AINs has never been higher. I've gone from making myself available for most shift times almost everyday - to simply having one shift time set for each day I wish to work, knowing full well that there will be a shift waiting for me at those times (weekends and public holidays may vary of course, as more employees wish to work them for the higher rates). My advice to any new employees is to communicate effectively whenever there might be an issue with your schedule, give plenty of notice if you need to change your availability, or anticipate such things when you first send it if possible. If you think you're running late, or traffic is heavier than expected - give PRN a heads up - they'll inform the facility you're heading to. I generally try to arrive early - especially where I know parking is scarce. If you don't drive, PRN will likely send you shifts near to train stations - they were always quite accommodating whenever my car was in for repairs or similar. If you receive your weeks' shifts and there is a blank day where you are available - it's possible that you'll get a shift and be notified the day before, or in some cases on that same day - I call them ASAP shifts in the case of the latter. All in all, PRN has been quite good to me as my primary employer.
