Elizabeth is a genuine, down to earth and passionate soul and her rune reading was so relevant and insightful! I loved how she tuned into the runes and interpreted them in her own unique way. I was after a leather pouch in which to carry my phone on my belt, because anything I bought at the shops didn't last in the enviroment in which I work. I found The Happy Viking's website, but didn't see what I was after. I sent a message asking whether they would and could do what I was looking for. Elizabeth replied telling me, yes she could do that, and all she needed was the phone size. I passed these on to her along with details of colour preferred and pattern design. Well, after only a couple of days what I got was simply stunning. It was so well made and it fitted my needs perfectly. I can't express enough how good a job Elizabeth did on this for me. Elizabeth was amazing. From the very beginning she involved me in the process of making my item, which meant the only surprising thing about the end result was how high the quality of the leather working was. As a re-enactor a huge amount of attention to detail is required and my expectations were still exceeded by the craftsmanship.

Elizabeth's two day course is amazing value. She is incredibly generous with her time, knowledge and materials. More than that, she infuses you with her passion. I had never done leather work before but now feel confident to tackle other projects.

I happily stumbled across Elizabeth, aka Hlif the Happy Viking, at a Viking Cultural day. I watched as she carefully applied herself to her trade. I listened as she took the time to respond to each avid questioner that circled her regardless of their age or question. The completed pieces that surrounded her were beautifully turned out and an idea formed in my mind. My fiancé, Scott, is a mechanic. He is never on time because he doesn’t wear a watch as they usually end up with a smashed face. I had long been looking for a leather watch with a face cover for protection. I approached Elizabeth at a later time after stalking her website, reading her reviews etc. And thus began our journey. I wanted a watch that would encompass practicality as well as something important to my fiancé, his belief in the Viking gods. I spoke with Elizabeth at length regarding the concept and my wish. She was so attentive to the details. Emails and phone calls to discuss the design, sketches were sent to be perused. And because it was a secret Christmas present, there were a couple of clandestine meetings whereby we procured a passing male of suitable size to be a model for the prototype test piece. When I picked up the finished piece, sporting Mjolnir on the face cover, and Scott’s full name engraved in runes, I was overwhelmed with the workmanship and the complete accuracy that Elizabeth had created the piece. She was able to take the image from my mind and make it reality. She sought to understand exactly what I desired and made suggestions, which were incorporated, to enhance the design. It was more than what I had hoped for. The only problem I had was that I had to wait another 4 months before Christmas to give it to my Beloved! When Christmas finally came, the wait was well worth it when I saw the look on Scott’s face; his adoration for the piece exceeded mine. Working with Elizabeth was a joy; her passion for her craft and her customers is a delight. She is now my ‘go-to’ person for all things leather.

I'm so impressed by the pouch that The Happy Viking made me that I'm getting a knife sheath made by her too. Her craftstmanship is excellent and she was happy to listen to my ideas and work with them so that I got exactly what I wanted. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to purchase quality leatherwork. I know I will have my pouch for a long time to come. Great value.
