South Sea Islander Memorial
Just south of Fishery Falls, on the way to Babinda, is this little memorial by the side of the road. Blink and you'll miss it. The memorial recognises the many thousands who were 'blackbirded' into working for little or no pay on the area's sugar plantations from 1860 and into the 20th century.
