Simply D School of Clay and Creativity

Had the most amazing experience organising my best friend's hens get together with Simple D School of Clay and Creativity. Donna was so accommodating and had great communication. There were 11 of us and Donna ensured that we were all looked after throughout the morning. Very good value for money. Everyone told me how much they enjoyed the experience and felt they were given great direction in creating their ceramic pieces. Would definitely recommend this to anyone and will 100% be back. Looking forward to our glazing sessions. Thanks again, Donna!

I signed up for the term that started in February. I paid for 8 sessions in total and only managed to complete 5 of these, due to covid restrictions closing everything down in March.I really enjoyed the classes I had done, Donna was quirky and fun and I learnt so much. This was my much needed escape and I loved the people I got to learn with in the Saturday afternoon classes.As we all were, I was so excited when I got the email saying Donna had reopened. I replied asking what date I could start back etc, by email and txt msg and never got a reply. I called and also left a voicemail. I received a few weeks later, a group email saying any glazing needed to be done within 2 weeks.However, nothing about my finishing my classes.After calling and messaging again, I got a txt reply saying I could not make up classes if I missed the two week window for glazing and any work left would not be kept.I had a unfinished hand coil pot i hadn't completed, which I was looking forward to finishing as well as 2 more wheel lessons.I understood that Donna needed to book in a new term and new students, however I am so disappointed I cannot go back for my remaining lessons.I was going to sign up for a second term after that.But after this, I won't be going back unfortunately. I am not getting a partial refund by the looks either, as I have not had a reply to that email request either.Great studio, lots of fun, however feel very let down by this.

I have been coming to the studio for over 2 years. It has been such a blessing to re-discover my love for clay and pottery. Donna is super passionate and incredibly generous. She aims to adjust to the various skill levels at the studio and ensure that people learn and grow and continue to develop their skills. She has built a little community of like-minded potters and I have made wonderful new friends, learned new skills and techniques. Most importantly, being back at the wheel has kept me sane through these crazy couple of years. Donna’s generosity and kindness has allowed us to find ways to continue working with clay even under the most taxing circumstances. The studio is well set up and Donna has an amazing aray of clays and glazes. She does all she can to help you discover where you want to go with your clay play and support you on that rewarding journey!

I have only just started here with Donna and I rarely leave reviews. But I have not met a more passionate, genuine, caring and giving teacher and local small business owner. Donna is such a unique individual, truly one with her art and wanting the best for her students. Donna not only brings the life of pottery but brings together a beautiful little community of local potters.Being at the studio I’ve see all ages and genders - so great to see the diverse array of individuals who come to the studio and create the amazing atmosphere that makes Simply D , simply D ❤️With Donna you’re not just getting pottery but also the beautiful philosophy behind Donna’s way of teaching. She ensures you build the right foundations before getting too ahead of ourselves. I’ve taken the time to listen to Donna’s story and this woman is an incredible strong and resilient woman who I’m so glad I got to have as a teacher opening up this world of pottery for me as a way to support my mental health and general well-being as I go into a very high stress and demanding job.Thank you Donna !!!

Such an amazing time! The teacher Donna is lovely. She has a direct way of teaching but she has taught me so much and you can see how passionate she is about pottery. Would 100% go back and recommend to anyone.

I have been attending Donnas classes for over 3 years and I have learnt so much. From beginning with no experience, Donna has guided and shared her knowledge with me over the years. I have recommend her studio to plenty of my friends who have all thoroughly enjoyed their classes. Its amazing to be able to take home and use what we make in class from bowls, plates, mugs and more!! It’s great to support a local business.

Hubby and I had a great experience in our pottery workshop booked for our anniversary. Donna is a character and was very patient while we tried to create something. We somehow ended up with 4 lovely pieces of fruit platter, cheese board, and 2 small bowls. It would be great if the glazing and pickup could be scheduled at the workshop so we didn't need to chase up as it took some email, phone, & SMS tagging.

Donna is a passionate and experienced teacher. I have been going to her for almost two years and she has been very generous, accommodating and supportive. Her teaching is of high standard, she has greatly helped me to improve my pottery skills and has encouraged and equipped me to put myself and my work out there. Strongly recommend for a thorough pottery education!

I am into my second term at Simply D’s and LOVE it. I love the social gathering of like minded people who just want to learn and be creative, the studio is well set out with fabulous clays, glazes and equipment. But mostly I love that I have been taught amazing skills to both hand build, and create pots and clay master pieces I am proud of. Donna encourages you to shine and add your own twist to the items you create. She is generous with her time and equipment and I am totally HOOKED!! My pottery night with Donna at Simply D’s is my happy place. Highly recommend. Great value for money

SUCH a good way to switch off! I attended the Thursday beginners course in Feb/March 2022 and loved it. We learnt how to hand build, throw on the wheel and glaze our pots. You end up coming away from the 8 week course with 4+ different pieces!Everyone gets their own wheel and Donna is super knowledgeable and helpful! I’ll definitely be signing up for the next one.
