Thoughtful and delicious menu, designed to surprise and inspire with local produce. The best food experience I can remember. The lunch was made even more special by the stunning restaurant design and view. Thank you to the whole Van Bone team for having us.

The best dining experience I’ve had in Australia!People that follow me know I’m a lover of great food in all its forms. This is truly a must if you’re in Tasmania; they only seat small numbers. It was 6 for us on our lunch service in late August 2022.You will have layers of complex flavours presented beautifully from start to finish. As the menu changes often, I’ll post some pictures but be ready to be impressed.A lot of their produce is sourced either on the property or very locally. The staff and chef are excellent and genuinely complete a wonderful experience.Make this a priority when you’re here.

The local farm restaurant named “Van Bone”.The restaurants proudly source their producer from on-site gardens. The proximity to farm fresh produce and charm of regional Australia has put farm to table dining on the map. All foods are fresh and delicious. Focus on the taste of the ingredients themselves. But I personally think the price is a little expensive, it takes 2 hours to drive and 3 hours to eat.

OMG… what can I say our dining experience was nothing short of phenomenal.Beautiful interior design that leaves you feeling relaxed, and the view is outstanding.Food is foraged from their own garden and local producers, leaving the food to tasting exceptional and well thought out.We couldn't fault a thing and couldn't recommend it highly enough.Tim and Laura, such credit to you for Van Bone.. it is one of the most memorable dining experience we have had and we will be back!

This place gets better and better. The menu changes seasonally and has only got better and better. Highly recommended. The wine list features only Tasmanian wines and many from boutique wineries.Well worth the 40min drive from Hobart. There is one wheelchair access parking bay and while the path to the restaurant is gravel it is firmly packed and easily managed in a manual wheelchair. There is also a fully accessible toilet. Will go back.

Outstanding meal, incredible service and second to none setting. Van Bone is everything you've heard about and more with a truly memorable and unique dining experience. The food is a beautiful expression of the local area and the owners, Laura and Tim, are so happy to share their love of regional Tasmanian produce with you. All the staff are super knowledgeable and very generous and they have amazing ingredients and a great wine list to work with.Be prepared for a long lunch (very long) and plan your day around it, it's definitely worth it, and make the most of the little break between the savoury and sweet courses to explore the kitchen garden, say hi to the chooks and take some photos in the surrounding environment.

Been here four times now (reviewed first time I went). Tim and Laura don’t miss. That salad reminded me of a Salad 51 from Piazza Duomo but completely original in flavour and presentation. A beautiful dish. The duck was insane, the finest I’ve had. Love this place and it’s amazing talented people. Destination dining that you should travel for. Will continue to return like a migratory bird looking for a good feed.

Absolutely divine. Not food, but art.Gift to be treated to such an experience.Best dishes were the tomato and cheese escargot, abalone and scotch fillet.Amazing drinks too - highly recommend the lemon, lime and mint mocktail.Able to walk around the farm as well which was lovely to see all the food we had eaten growing.

The food was very inventive and amazing. The staff were passionate and knowledgeable and really wanted you to have a wonderful experience. My only comment would be that 3 and a half hours was a long time to sit on fairly uncomfortable stools that were a little too high to get your legs under the table properly. Other diners who started the lunch menu an hour after us finished at almost the same time so perhaps the experience didn't need to be quite so long.

If you love the culinary vision of a farm-to-kitchen restaurant, Van Bone is the place. But it is more than just a hyper-local restaurant, I was fortunate enough to chat with Tim the owner-chef and also given a short tour of their kitchen towards the end of my meal there. They did not have a cool room at all, so that means all the products from local vendors come in fresh daily for the day's service. They only have small fridges to keep the food at suitable temperature that will be used on that day. Their own organic herb and vegetable garden provides a good portion of the ingredients for menu.Laura, the front of house, was very knowledgeable and provided a good matching local craft beer with the stronger, more intensely flavoured appetisers. Service was impeccable and you will be pleasantly surprised with a twist regarding the cutlery (I will say no more!).I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic set menu and appreciated the fruits of their labour and love, regardless of whether they come from the soil, the seas, and the vines of Tasmania.
