Nice decor. I ordered the smashed avocado in which I thought they were trying to do too much. Didn’t taste the greatest in my opinion. It looked nice though, plus the service was great.

Merchants of Ultimo
The place is always BUSY, and for good reason! If you're just passing through, the coffee is fantastic to grab on your way to do your shopping. Or sit in and have anything off the menu. You can make your own salad, so many options, I opted for a beef steak salad with 6 x additional ingredients. PERFECTION! The steak was cooked exactly how I love it, medium rare. Highly recommend.

What drew me in were the colourful cakes. Price ranging from $11-14 (+ $1 charged for dining in). Chose Mont Blanc to have with some coffee. It had just the right amount of sweetness, not overpowering.Their pizza looked good. Will have to give it a try next time.

Visited this cafe on Saturday and super disappoinyed with the coffee. I ordered a soy flat white. The coffee came out too hot and at this point I already knew that my coffee is ruined.With soy milk if it's overheated the soy milk curdles becoming really gross to drink. I requested for a small cup and a spoon to scoop the top layer of my curdled soy milk. At this point it was not drinkable. I advised the waiter about the situation but all he said was oh okay" and took away my cup with the curdled soy milk.I finished my meal and ordered cake all the while waiting for a replacement or an apology.... but nothing. After I finished my dessert

Came here for morning tea with friends. Amazing range of pastries that are made in house. Prices for pastries are slightly more than other cafes, but portions are big. Ordered a serve of banana bread and the portion was like 2 standard slices from other cafes. There are also lots of options on the menu for ala carte. Coffee was good. The place had a nice ambience. Not to crowded but busy. Also nice to see how some of the food was being prepared as you can see the open kitchen. Good for coffee catch ups. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would love to come back.

Rump steak side is quite good value. Chips are cooked well - nice crispy and seasoned. Pasta is okay, can tell it’s made in store from the texture. Pizza is quite poor value in terms of toppings, especially for the price.Restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Saturday night, I guess it’s more of a lunch venue.

Merchants of Ultimo is my favourite restaurant. Somuch variety for both eat-in and takeaway. Irecommend to everyone I know. It was the first place I booked once lockdown was over.
