Exel Car Rental

Have used Exel many times. Have yet to have any car mishap. Yes, the cars and vans are a bit 'pre owned' but they get the job done. If you want a vehicle to get A to B, a van to move your stuff - then this a local place that walking distance from home. They rent you a car, is all I asked them to do.

Good cheap vans. Friendly, honest staff.Highly recommend

Inexpensive. Good van. Great service. It was very hot, so the guy gave my wife a bottle of water because he didn't have access to a tap where she could refill. They are obviously a small business - doesn't have the efficent feel of the big companies, but sometimes I actaully prefer that. Will go back.

The car rental itself all went fine, we hired for 24 hours with the aim to bring the car back first thing monday morning. At 5pm on sunday we got a call from Abdul asking if we could bring the car back before close as they had another driver that needed a vehicle and they didn't have an alternative. We were on our way back, but because of this call, and the fact they close at 6pm, we took a quicker route back from north of the bridge which meant taking toll roads. Whilst we were aware of Exel's policy that the client pays for tolls, we figured given that we were doing Exel a favour in bringing the car back earlier, that we wouldn't have to pay for this. I received the toll bill in the post 1.5 months later and when i spoke to Abdul to negotiate, he denied asking us to bring the car back early, saying that he just rang to say he was closing. This was an outright lie, we would have kept the car til morning if he had not asked us this. He refused to pay the toll and told me that what I'd heard on the phone was my opinion." He also said that he was doing us a "favour" because usually they charge $22 per toll plus the fee. The cost of the toll isn't even the issue

Worst car rental ever!! Been in contact with them a few times, Indian guy on the phone always super rude. Still they were close by, so I decided to use them. Indian guy says you need a credit card. I give him my CC, he says no Amex. Well this is the only CC I have, just use my normal bank card for the deposit. But no he doesn't want to do it. So there is no way I can rent a car here, even though I have a credit card, what a joke this shop is. Indian guy was so rude, he just wanted to get rid of me because they were closing soon.

If you want to rely on having a vehicle when you make a booking, and efficient service, don't come here.Made a reservation 3 days in advance. Vans looked to be in good repair on arrival, but they opened 20 minutes late with a customer waiting to return a car saying you always sleep in! you're always late!" Didn't bode well. After asking us to wait as he processed 3 other customers very slowly

Great experience. Abdul was friendly, helpful and explained what was needed. The car I hired with scratches and a few dings, however it was very clean inside and functioned well. Happy to hire from them again.

Bad Service Van is not even good enough for wreckers filthy dirty interior never been cleaned in the last 10 years But worst of all staff with bad attitude

When i lived in Newtown I used these guys a few times to rent cars when my ute was being serviced, or I went on a roadtrip and needed more than 2 seats (my ute has 2 seats). I was a bit worried because there were bad online reviews so I thought I'd go down an check it out. The place runs out of an old service station, not all fancy and well marketed like the more expensive big-name places. Anyway that's not what I'm after. I just want a car that works well, is cheap, and close to home so I can easily pick it up. That's exactly what i got. The booking process was walk-in both times and both times they had something available and service was all good. If you want to pay more to get a brand new looking car from a place with cool signange and a guy wearing a shirt and tie then go pay double somewhere else, or if you're smart just grab a average looking car here like I did.

FILTHY, RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, UTTERLY DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE. Car was filthy and stunk. Rental agent on the pick up was ok but the guy on the return was a rude prick. Never in my history of renting cars did I ever have to produce a receipt for replacing the fuel in the car. When we did not produce he insisted on driving it to the bowser and filling every last drop into it. His manner was disgusting, typical of a 'call centre' experience where all he could do was follow a script and would not negotiate when we had paid for the full day and only used it for 2 hours (they have a 3 hour rate!) Total pig! Completely arrogant and not willing to listen. Save your money folks and use GoGet or try Balmain Rentals. The experience is much better and you dont have to deal with stinking rude agents. NOT EVEN WORTH ONE STAR!
