Worst experience in the world. 15 years later & we are still angry about the dodgy certifier passing stages when none met the required standards. The nastiness of the builder, useless Master Builders (who are on the builders’ side) and a dodgy certifier makes a good recipe for disaster. Don’t even think about this company at all. You will need to hire a building inspector, an engineer and go to court to get your home completed. Whatever you do don’t sign off on the defects list and there will be pressure to do so.I am adding again to this review…., because I am so angry that a company like this with no morals and standards is still in existence and ruining other people’s first builds. They cost us $40000 to make them complete the build up to the basic Australian Standards. If I am ever given back what they have stolen…..I spoke to another couple about their experience but they had chosen not to go to court like us because they ran out of money and willpower.An old lady who dealt with Colonial said she had a builder in the family who had to fix up all the problems such as pulling down walls etc.Dodgy supervisor lied to our Building Inspector outright was probably one of the childish things that occurred. My building inspector said, “Your supervisor said he replaced a previous supervisor.” This certainly didn’t happen…he was there the whole time. I did enjoy watching the face of the supervisor when he was openly caught out. So expect the worst. As we got a building inspector- Colonial drilled holes into our brand new water tanks. …and the list goes on. You are crazy if you go with this company!!!Still angry- Owner is fully aware of the substandard work as he was on our site regularly talking to our personal building inspector hired by us to speak on our behalf. He is a bully.During the building process they inadvertently set the house on fire and yet even contemplated using the charred timbers.One day even the plasterer smashed the door to get inside. Could keep going….Zero care & zero empathy. Must be avoided.

The poorest build and post-build aftercare I have ever experienced. Several messages left and calls answered with promises of return contact that were never made. My last interaction (which left me very close to tears) I spoke clearly and calmly despite my frustration and had a member of their staff consistently talk over me and respond that I was initiating an argument - which I was certainly not - with no accountability regarding the fact I had been waiting for a response for MONTHS regarding my query/issue. Upon advising that I felt I had no choice but to go to QBCC regarding the matter as my several attempts to discuss/resolve were met with silence I was basically told “you need to do X, Y & Z and if it persists then come back to us” I am still waiting on the contact info for who I am supposed to contact to do this as I was told (again) it would be emailed which it has not been. They simply do not care. The house is 4y old and the ceiling has a leak, I just wanted the information on who/how I get this resolved, a simple response via ph or email with next steps would have sufficed but I received NOTHING. 0/10 would not recommend.

Awful Maintenance team, they will not respond to you even though it is their responsibility to rectify defect work.The person process maintenance has such an bad attitude towards customers and no willingness to help. I had to involve QBCC. This should not happen if this building company was doing the right thing. I really wonder if the owner of Colonial building company knows what is exactly going on in the front end.
