Here lies a lot of stories which are forgotten. The stones are barley readable, because some are two hundred years old! It's a pretty place for photography, not that big, light is good and has a lot of atmosphere in this setting. Dogs are allowed to walk off leash.

The Camperdown cemetery is a tranquil oasis near the busy shopping and restaurants of Newtown. Once in the gates you hear only the breeze and feel as if you have discovered a forgotten place. Often you might have it all to yourself. Everything on its grounds shows a dignified age. It’s a great place to wander, sit and think, or make art. It’s a regular stop for me.

Peaceful old cemetery, full of charm and character, with lush vegetation and crooked tombs. Perfect for a slow meditative walk before the hussle and bustle of nearby King Street.

Camperdown Cemetery
The most perfectly scary cemetery known in inner Sydney. If you truly want to feel the cold fear of death walk through here sometime between midnight and dawn. As soon as you think you are alone you’ll realise your not.All proud Newtown locals have a war story of doing something lewd, crude and rude in this location.

This is not an active cemetary. Graves go back to 1860's. They now occupy a small area, the rest is now a public park.

This is an urban oasis, a fascinating cemetery, and one of my favourite place in Sydney BUT visitors should be aware that amongst the dog walkers and sightseers there are also a few vagrants and other users of the space who are best avoided.

I was bleeding out.Crawling among the scattered dirt lines of a gravestone, I peered away from the group of goth kids that recently shanked my skin with a screwdriver. The blood that was dripping from my excavated torso soon becoming one with the earthworms. Their reasoning for this misdemeanour did seem quite off: Was it my seemingly congruent statement of horoscopes being a complete fad? Or perhaps it was my constant reminding of their daddy issues? One thing that does derive in certainty would be how I'll spend my last breath on this world to someone who reeks of Mango-Flavoured vapes.I stared at the face of god, and only found dread.

This was @ nighttime so I couldn’t read the headstones - But apparently, there’s a role-call of famous names buried here.Nevertheless, it’s still pretty spectacular.

Boasting more goths per square metre than a Robert Smith concert the cemetery features big trees and creepy gravestones.A mix of kept and unkept tombstones the cemetery is serene and historic. A lovely place to explore the history of Newtown or take a piss when the portaloos are full during the Newtown festival. It has something for everyone.
