Werribee River Camping Ground
Nice little spot, we took the shorter road in, was very rutted (but there were chicken tracks around) and a few bog holes, and a small creek crossing. There is an easier way, but this was more fun.Big open area in the middle, with some spots around the edges that were more secluded. We had one of those, and there were only 5 other groups scattered around, so we couldn't see anyone from our spot.Nice and quiet, birds weren't too bad in the mornings, and saw a wallaby. No facilities but town was only 20 mins up the highway.

This is my go-to camping spot. Has always had 2WD access and they've recently resurfaced Carrolls Track which makes it even easier. Can get a spot away from others almost every time.

Close to Melbourne. Wide flat area with limited shade, lots of flies during summer due to steady water in the seasonal river. There is spring near by with high water hardness, not good for drinking!

Beautiful spot with plenty of evidence of last June's storm. Road still officially closed as of mid-October 2021.

Great spot for free camping. Plenty of room. Not much service, telstra was best but had to get up the hill

Big open clearing, some shaded areas to the sides. 4WD access only. Occasional idiots and dead smelly roos with gunshot wounds. Plenty of shotgun shells on the ground. Photos from Gregory (if they're still on the listing) are not of the area, they're of a day visit area south of this area. Carroll's Spring is near the SW corner of clearing, easily missed.

Easy access campground close to Melbourne. Can drive into ballan or Daylesford for dinner within around 20 mins. Lots of space to accomodate for multiple groups of campers.
