Having recently retired from our Mechanical engineering business, i purchased a Unimig Viper inverter welder to take up metal craft at home. This unit had a 12 month warranty but considering our retirement my wife and i jumped into our caravan and remained traveling around australia for several months. On return i set up the welder to find it failed to perform per spec and was advised to seek advice from GB Electrical in newcastle because it was 2 months out of warranty...!!!. i visited GB Electrical and spoke with Penny in reception who listened to my story and introduced me to Ryan as one of their technician's. Ryan was good enough to give me a Unimig representative's name and number to seek a warranty outcome plus technical advice which was invaluable . My purpose in writing this review is simply to extend my appreciation for the kindness that Penny and Ryan gave me in representing GB Electrical. Ryan even carried the welder out to our car for me... well done team ... customer service that goes beyond words. Kind regards Malcolm.

GB Electrical Contractors installed a complete emergency lighting system in our building in the Newcastle CBD. They were complete professionals and worked with the owners and tenants to accommodate the installation in a manner that provided minimal disruption including scheduling some of the work for weekends to avoid disruption to a doctor's surgery hours Monday to Friday.The work was neat especially considering the building age and heritage requirements. Everything was done to schedule and standards ensuring building compliance with modern fire standards and all work areas were managed safely and kept clean and tidy for the duration of the job. Highly recommended

GB Electrical installed my electric gates and electric garage doors back in October 2019. I am very impressed with Brad and GBE for their quality and reliable service.The electric gates opening times and widths were customised for me and they have never missed a beat, even after the recent heavy rain and flooding on my road. My garage doors are old so recently got stuck, Brad from GBE came out and fixed the problem. Fantastic service :)

Needed plasma cutter repair had machine for 14 weeks. Would continually not return calls. Poor communication between staff hence machine is still not repaired will not be using them again very disappointing.

I used this company to install electric motors on my commercial garage doors. Unfortunately, one of the doors wouldn't close properly the day after the installation was completed.When I contacted the company GBE and asked them to send someone out to look at why the door wasn't closed, they were happy to do so. The service guys arrived, who were very nice young men and commenced working on the door. Several hours later, they advised that the door was fixed and demonstrated that it was working again. A few days later, I received an invoice for their work, which was exactly $500 inclusive of GST.Thinking this was just a mistake, I called the company and explained that it was only the day before the doors were installed and that it was a warranty job. The receptionist said she would get someone to call me. Nobody called for several weeks, so I thought common sense had prevailed, and the invoice was reversed. However, around a month later, I received a phone call asking when the payment would be made. I explained the situation again, and this time the receptionist said that the issue was related to the door track and not the motors they installed. Therefore the amount had to be paid.I disagreed with her, and soon after, the supervisor for the area, named Jamie, called me and tried to explain that the tracks were the issue. I said to Jamie that when a motor is installed on a garage door, it is not unreasonable for the consumer to expect it to work, even if the tracks require a slight adjustment. If there was an issue with the tracks, I should have been advised during the installation phase, which I was not.Finally, GBE agreed to come to my premises and adjust the motor and the tracks, so the auto-opening doors worked correctly. However, while removing the motor, the garage door was allowed to slam down extremely hard, making the entire warehouse shudder. Upon inspection, the garage door and existing tracks were severely damaged from the impact and cannot he repaired.Jamie, the area manager for GBE, did not approach me and explain what had happened. They just left the premises after getting the motor working again and trying to straighten the damaged door. Not a very honourable thing to do.At no time did anyone apologise for the damage caused to our door, and to date, I have had no apology or explanation and no offer to replace the door, so I had to claim the damage on my insurance, costing a $1000 excess.I recommend staying away from this company. They don't seem to have their act together unless it's related to invoicing, which they seem very good at.

Anyone in the Newcastle area looking for an electrician? DO NOT USE GB ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS!! They over-charge. Do not complete the job. Install the incorrect gauge wiring capable of causing a fire. And then call you THE CLIENT a liar!! We were forced to take them to Fair TradingPs. These people contacted me “to discuss”. It they checked their records they’d know this went to Fair Trading.
