I write to reinforce my wife’s review of O’Toole Automotives.We have had a couple of our VW’s serviced by Peter over the years and he was good at problem solving most of the time. Even though he wasn’t able to solve all of our problems we still returned. On one car we left it with him for over a week with a cooling leak allowing him use to use the car as he wished but he couldn’t solve it so we took it to another repair shop which fixed the problem quickly.On our last occasion of dealing with Peter we were quoted for a repair that we decided to proceed with. This was to replace an ABS control unit, the part he had resourcefully sourced second hand. After some time we were told that the car was ready to pick up. The invoice however was for 2.5 times the quoted amount. We were given no notice of this increase during the repair process. I negotiated with Peter that we pay a little less than twice the price quoted - he agreed. I dropped my wife off and soon got a call from her saying that Peter had lost control and abused her. Unfortunately, we had come to pick up the car just before midday on a Friday, which is O‘Toole’s closing time. In retrospect it was that the lady on reception had left for the day so there was no calming influence around. I went back to the workshop and Peter turned on me instead of my wife, using colourful but repetitive language and he walked up to me - within 10cm - and he threatened me more menacingly, literally face to face. This has never happened to me before.I accompanied my wife to report the incident to the Police. After another week my wife spoke to the lady on reception and confirmed with her that the agreement I had made with Peter would be honoured. I stayed across the road in my car but Peter came out the side door, away from the office area, and put on a show of gesticulating to me which I turned turned away from.In my experience you will get generally competent service here but it could get colourful.

Have been going there for many years. Never had an issue with their service or work. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a good team looking after your car.

I took my car down due to a brake issue. After a week I received a call that the car required a new part and it was going to cost $480. I agreed and 3 weeks latter received a call to say it was ready. I went to pay and was shocked to hear the bill was $1180. I was told that another part was required. There was no consultation about this, the first I heard of it was after the repair had been completed. This is not the first time this has happened with these people. Peter and my husband negotiated and agreed we would pay $850. However when I turned up to pick up the car and pay I was abused and repeatedly sworn at whilst waiting for my credit card to go through. as a women on my own I I felt threatened and intimidated. I called my husband back my instincts were correct as Peter then very aggressively abused my husband and refused to return the car until we paid the full amount which we had never authorized to be spent in the first place.

O'Toole Automotive provide friendly, honest, quick and reliable service. Peter has decades of experience and his services are extremely affordable. I can honestly recommend O'Toole Automotive.

Can't believe this guy is still in business. Used him years ago for some work. A very long story.....but the moral of the story is go somewhere else and save yourself some pain.

I've been taking my car and motorbike there for rego checks and minor mechanical work for 4 years. I've always been happy with their service. Its rare to find a mechanic that doesn't seem like he is ripping you off, so these guys are great!
