Prior to commencing his consulting role, David worked at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) where he was responsible for the operation and strategic development of OT and IT for wholesale and retail gas and electricity markets in the Australian eastern jurisdictions.

In the predecessor organisation to AEMO, David focused on electricity market developments to accommodate government initiatives such as increasing renewables energy forms (e.g. wind and solar) into the operation of the National Electricity Market.

From mid 2007, David took responsibility for NEMMCO development and strategy functions, which cover both the retail market functions including smart metering, and the NEM development functions which include demand side response, wind integration, and financial market improvements.
