One of the main benefits of choosing Redleaf for my mother was that many residents were of Italian background and some team members also spoke key words.Being quite unfamiliar with the aged care sector, I wasn't sure what to expect and in hindsight still believe that communication and relationships are the foundation for a positive experience. The initial weeks were somewhat challenging or me as I tried to ascertain responsibility for mobility equipment, finding out about external services and so on. It could have been significantly easier had the orientation period focused on finding out about what my mothers current abilities, interests, preferences are and so on. This ideally needs to be shared with the ALL the of nurses and be common knowledge. Often this wasn't the case.In total she only spent four months at Redleaf and although there were areas in which they could have improved, mainly around focus nursing model to enhance care and continuity for the residents, better communication channels and improved handover notes between nurses etc. However in only just a few months our family built a positive rapport with the nurses and my mum even in her state of being unable to verbally communicate, showed us that she was treated with care and respect. I had no doubt of that and was so relieved as this is paramount.Sadly my mother passed away during her time at Redleaf which coincided with yet another wave of Covid, lock downs and so forth. Fortunately we were able to have mum stay in her own room, with her familiar nurses, and fellow resident best friend. Knowing that Redleaf offered palliative care meant we were able to be with her every minute until the very end.Everyone at Redleaf was so incredibly supportive, accommodating and professional during what was the last couple of days of my mum's life on earth. I cannot express enough the feelings of gratitude for everything the team and nurses did for my mum and our family. You made the hardest part about losing my parent, that little bit easier, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart x

Amitted Dad in high care Dementia respite for 2 weeks in Feb 2019.Only 1 staff on at night as mentioned by the overworked staff!Took him out after 5 nights. Urine stains on dinning room chairs.Food very average.Huge Bruise on his buttocks and sore gums around his mouth. A fall not mentioned by anyone. Dad wasn't capable of lifting himself up. God knows how long he must of been down with only 1 staff on at night.

My dear Friend Vera was in this aged care facility until her death recently aged 95. While there are certainly many features of the centre that are good there are great deficiencies as with all aged care centres. Shortage of staff with good geriatric knowledge meant her shoes were often left without being put on properly and the backs were down. Her personal chair had a leg raising facility which she needed for a painful leg and was never raised by staff. Her clothes were over washed at 70 degrees!!!!! and thus fell apart and were washed of colour. There was no time for anyone to walk her about and so she quickly became unable to walk. Many of her possesions of which she had few went missing; jewelry, two pairs of glasses, items of clothing etc. It is an expensive place and someone is making a lot of money at the expense of the elderly.

Recently my family was left with the dreaded decision to place my Aunty into an age care facility, we booked a tour of a few local facilities, Redleaf Manor was homely, lovely, the rooms spacious and the staff seemed very friendly, we were explained everything that we needed to know. lots of room to bring in my aunts personal belongings, this made my aunt feel right at home from the very first day. The menu looked delicious. Thank you for making this transition as easy as possible.

I visited and evaluated seven nearby homes in July 2016 when my high needs disabled wife needed to be discharged from rehab.Redleaf was not the most convenient, geographically, but certainly the most welcoming, through Elizabeth Ruggieri, Erin Sharp, and Sandra Cortez, with their understanding of our difficulty in dealing with our new circumstances, and their compassion and support while we settled in.Redleaf is a for profit home, and I found them slow and reluctant to respond to requests to provide sufficient mobility equipment to care properly for my wife. As a result I laid out $5,000 plus to acquire the equipment my wife needs many times a day and which was often deployed elsewhere for hours at a time. This lifter is now often used to help others in our area when the Redleaf lifter is not available, an arrangement we are happy with, to help other residents in need.Unfortunately, there have been many changes in general and care managers in the past four plus years, and all of those lead to new rules, bright ideas and general instability with care staff.I have a problem with the policy that staff should be rotated regularly, to give them a wide variety of experiences with different residents, because it is not always accompanied by proper training of new staff of the circumstances and needs of the new residents they are serving. Like tonight. After exceeding the lifetime cap on some fees, we now pay over $7,000 per month to Allity, and are mindful and grateful that this would be higher without government support. The levels of staffing limit the quality and empathy of care, and are inadequate for this level of fees. The recent commission report findings that government care facilities outshine for profit firms requires further investigation. We may well find Jane is better cared for more economically, in less salubrious surroundings.Having said all that, we are most grateful to every carer, and other members of staff who bless Jane with care and compassion, beyond the time they have, to fulfil their their other responsibilities.Dave Behrens

My father has been a resident of Redleaf Manor for 5.5 years. My late mother was also a resident. The service , care , friendliness and compassion provided by all the staff is outstanding and the facility is always immaculate.I am extremely happy that my parents final years are at Redleaf Manor.
