Our host was very knowledgeable, friendly and happy to answer our questions. The wines were very nice, and the way they set up means you can take your time and taste each wine without feeling rushed. The tasting room is a little bit bland but the view is lovely out the windows is lovely

We went there today 3rd April and we were all very disappointed with the attitude of the staff and the very poor service.We were made to feel like intruders, with the staff being totally unwilling to engage with us or give any information on the wines we wanted to try - we were not interested in buying any wine after this episode!We left and went to Pike and Joyce and received excellent service - the views, the ambience and the knowledgeable staff made for a very rewarding experience - we reciprocated their hospitality by generously purchasing their wines

Loved everything about this place - the wine, the atmosphere and (most importantly) the serviceThe first stop on our wine tour and the cellar door (particularly Sam) started us off with a bang - a fantastic introduction to the area, alongside beautifully descriptive terms for delicious tasting wineAll good wine deserves good food, which this place delivers too; introducing specifically designed meals to bring the best flavours of wine and meat togetherAbsolute quality, everyone should give this place a go (and buy a dozen Sauvignon Blancs haha)

Walked away feeling purchase dissonance as the money spent, did not match the experience our group expected. And we didn’t have high expectations either. I went bc I have drank Shaw and smith most of my life. It included Purchasing it during most family dinners, lunches, work functions and business dinners. I even purchased it for our office bar. So I really looked forward to experiencing their cellar door. Sadly Ive walked away disappointed from their tasting experience. And I feel it’s my duty to explain to others. Mind you The tasting room is lovely and has a incredible views. And I’ve always mentioned to everyone all over the world, how good their Wines actually are, they really are first class, but sadly their cellar door experience was not one I’ll recommend. You pay $25 pp for their entry level of 5 wines, and unless you spend over $100 in take away wine bottles, you won’t receive any money off your tasting... So theoretically, in order to reduce your $25 tasting fee each person is required to buy over $100 in wine. (Two bottles will do that) That does not include the food or merchandise your purchased. Because I felt a bit ripped off, our group decided not to buy two bottles of wine as we all intended. All other tastings I’ve been to usually offer a little extra taste of one of their better wines, which we usually succumb to buying. Not here. They make you pay for anything extra you might want a taste of, and charge you buy the glass. The presentation of the winemakers was a bit too scripted, still interesting, but most of their story would be known by serious wine drinkers anyway.

Was up in the hills today and dropped into Shaw & Smith for some tasting.Delightful Cellar door and picturesque views over the vineyard and water.Staff were very friendly.A good range of wines. Their Pinot and cold climate Shiraz were interesting indeed. The standout for me was their recently released 2022 Sauvignon Blanc - described as aromatic, fresh and lively... I thought it was simply wonderful.Their Produce plate had some very tasty items... the mushroom pate, mustard pickles and smoked ocean trout in particular married up well with the wines.

I’ve tasted a lot of wine. This was the best tasting I’ve ever had. The wine is delicious and refined. The food is meticulously considered. The staff are expert and warm. The outlook is exactly as it should be. Would love to stay all day. Everyday.
