Wonderful staff, excellent service and great gear! We were served by Bel who was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient in fitting out a group of 4 with everything we needed. Quality, new gear that was a breeze to use made our quick snow trip really enjoyable! Will absolutely be returning.

Honestly they ruined a whole day of snow for us . We came here to hire chains on our way to Mt Hotham. They told us they won’t be hiring chains because Mt Hotham will be closing their roads due to high snow fall. They also stated that there are cars stuck on the mountain due to heavy snow fall. (Which was a lie) They said they directly speak to Hotham workers and get their intel . Since we were new to the area we didn’t see any other place that hired so we trusted their word and left. When we contact Mt Hotham directly they said they never closed the roads. They didn’t have their information right and misguided customers. When we went to another ski shop they said Hoys always overreact and give false information. I understand that they can refuse service to customers when ever they want but giving false information about roads closing to the snow is another thing. If you don’t have your information correctly stop giving false information to people. Honestly it’s like they just didn’t want to hire chains to us.

This is really good place to hire snow chain and other equipment before you driving up the mountain. They have people half way on the road to mt hotham help you to put on your chain with zero cost if you hire chains from hoys. Really helpful and very friendly!

Very professional friendly service plus they have a guy at the chain fitting area to help you. When its cold, windy and snowing trying to fit chains is not easy. Having a person to fit is a blessing. Luckily I didn't need to this time.

Friendly ski hire joint just before you begin the climb up Hotham. Staff are extremely helpful and make sure you understand how to equip chains to your vehicle! Huge range of quality snow gear including new and hire products. Thanks guys!

Staff at Hoys were very polite and friendly, including the guys on the mountain assisting old people like us with chains.

They have a good setup, operationally they do a good job.Customer service and general manners however are lacking. I drive a Volvo (Sweedish car made for the snow), the woman was condescending and rude - stated that it was the worst car to have (clearly has no knowledge of Euro cars, it's literally made to drive in extreme nordic conditions).Volvo's are mostly only compatable with single sided chains, of which they do not rent out. That's fine, no problems. The woman lied and told us it's illegal to go up Mount Hotham with Single Sided Chains, told us to turn around and go somewhere else (Ego boost, weird but ok).So, we approach the entry zone, a Highway Patrol is there and stated to us that having AWD is perfectly fine and we are good to go up. We asked about this mysterious single sided chain law, VICPOL had zero knowledge of this.We had a great drive up the mountain, the Volvo gripped to the road like a Gecko, it was very fun. The older woman with longish hair at the chain hire place needs a reality check, yes you may have a glimmer of power and you may get something out of turning people around. But we had a great day, I'm glad we didn't listen to your unfounded advice.Do not read a book by it's cover - I immediatley felt as though she was categorising me as a bad driver as I was in a Volvo, its 2023 mate... Little did she know that my profession involves frequent emergency high risk driving, that is the ceiling for driver qualifications in Aus.I'm also from a small country town, I absolutley despise the type of person this woman is as it taints the community. Rant over.
