Mavis Hutter Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Came here with the kids and the dog as it states it’s an “off leash dog park”…..it certainly is not! Dogs MUST be on a leash at all times here. It is a large grassed area with a gravel path around the outside. 1 extremely basic playground (literally 2 swings and 1 slide…that’s it) and 2 outdoor “gyms” . It is not fenced properly so is definitely not safe to take your dog off leash, besides the many signs advising not to do so. Despite this we saw 3 other dogs with their owners….all off leash, so I guess it’s not checked or ppl don’t care. If your dog won’t run off and has excellent recall you could risk it but personally we kept our dog on his leash (teaching my kids rules actually matter). We had fun regardless as we always do and enjoyed walking the dog around the walking path and kids had a go on the gyms. If you’re within walking distance it “will do” but definitely not somewhere to travel or drive to like we did. Won’t be back and the search for a proper off leash dog park that isn’t ridiculously busy continues!
