Do not use this service. Absolutely disgraceful. Making jokes the entire time, and personally icing out my sister and myself when we tried to look in the grave, asked us if we were ok then made very upsetting personal comments about how we grieve. Made a death so so so much worse. So inappropriate. Consistent marketing and branding of themselves throughout, and very odd, bizarre behaviour from the funeral directors.

Dont go here. I was a personal friend of the owners of this business, having even played golf with the father and son. After the death of my wife, my assets were frozen, till I could go thru the process of Probate. They sent me to a debt collector, despite me telling them the money was coming, which it did a week later. Appalling treatment of golf buddies, hang you head in shame.

Recent funeral for Phil Ruthven was said by all to be one of the best funerals they'd ever been to for my dear departed father.Angela from Alison Monkhouse was absolutely amazing from the first meeting until a flawless event and afterwards.At our time of grief she took care of everything, every detail, every move on the day. I cannot recommend Angela more highly. Angela and the team are superb and collectively Professional, respectful and discretely in the background.I cannot understand other negative reviews. From the time of the first phone call to organise arrangements, their professional management of complex requests and family dynamics was exemplary. Angela Seaton at Allison Monkhouse in Brighton made such a difficult time for our family so special. The way she went about the process made us feel like she wanted to know Dad, she also helped us to remember all the happy times despite being in a complete state of shock.The most incredible thing about Angela and her service was no personal touch was too hard. Dad not being overly religious we didn't think a cross on his coffin appropriate. However, given his love of machinery, she arranged for a beautiful plaque with a picture of his favourite machine. Something that gave us great comfort to know was with him.We are not a confirming family and Angela just took us under her wing, helped us though and made us feel like we were at the right place to send off Dad. My family engaged the services of Allison Monkhouse in May this year to manage the funeral of my dear sister. One of my nephews and my sister and I initially met with Angela Seaton, Funeral Consultant to discuss the sort of funeral we’d like and we walked out of that meeting feeling thoroughly impressed with Angela’s gentle and empathetic manner, as well as providing all the comprehensive information we needed. We also had a meeting with a consultant from another bayside funeral company, but unanimously felt that Angela’s warm and empathetic manner, together with the intimate and comfortable spaces offered by Allison Monkhouse would be the perfect choice for our special send off. It transpired that we were spot on with this decision.Angela helped and guided us through the myriad of decisions that needed to be made, including choice of wreath, coffin, organisation of the service and even the suggestion of a beautiful poem when we were undecided, which we included in the service.Importantly, after getting to know us a little, Angela also gently guided us through a range of funeral celebrants to suggest someone she felt might best suit our needs and the type of service we wanted.Angela was always readily available to chat with or ask questions of during the rather long and stressful process of organising the funeral and throughout, was unfailingly kind, patient, caring and totally professional. She even offered her own sewing mannequin so we could adorn it in a Japanese Kimono to reflect my sister’s extensive connections with Japan, which was going well above the call of duty. The more detailed and technical aspects of the funeral like the slideshow, booklet printing, coordination of our chosen music and the live link to the service were also handled seamlessly.The funeral from start to finish was warm and personalised; so much so that everyone commented on how beautiful the service was.In summation, though funerals are by nature the saddest events that loved ones will ever have to experience, through meticulous planning and their gentle, warm empathy, Angela and the entire Allison Monkhouse team help us to create a funeral service that wholeheartedly reflected the best of my sister’s life and the family could not have been happier with the entire experience.Claire Lyell
