Walking around Carlton and spied a French bakery, patisserie and pie shop across th road, traffic stops for no one and I'm there @TheFrenchLettuce. Lovely display cabinet of different delights to whet the appetite. I opted for the berry tart. The French Lettuce
Stopped off to get a baked cheesecake which we have had before and the family’s pleased with it. Decided to try one of the beef pies. My wife and myself agreed. It was the best pie we’ve ever had and I am 63 years of age. I have sampled a lot of pies. It was a little bit more expensive, but it’s understandable once you try it.

Small, cute and underrated. This place makes an incredible baguette sandwich and good coffee. There isn’t much indoor seating except for some bar stools but you can sit outside. There is a lot of café food options to choose from which is always great to see. Also, the staff is very helpful and the dude has a crazy viking beard.

Went to try the Vanilla Slice, voted best in Melbourne by The Age. I thought the pastry was DELICIOUS, loved the dusting of icing sugar on top as opposed to a thick layer of icing and the middle was quite light and creamy. Serving size is huge! Overall it was a good vanilla slice but I kinda felt it was missing something.. Definitely recommend going and trying it!

Delicious plain croissants - french buttery crunchy flaky pastry outside especially the horns and nice chewy inside. We also enjoyed excellent double shot short lattes and the chocolate brownies are crazy good

Used to be great.Recently bought a chocolate mousse cake and it was overly sweet, and the base crumbled too easily. Didn’t enjoy the cake at all.Unfortunately will have to reconsider my options for cakes in the future.

When you need to eat sweet treats you come here. And today it was for a vanilla slice known as one of the best in Melbourne.There are lots of sweet choices as well as some savoury pies to choose from. Large cheesecakes, mid ales right up to wedding cakes on offer.There are only a few chairs and tables inside if you wanted to stay and eat but in warmer months you can sit outside and watch the world of Nicholson Street go by.Staff are very friendly and helpful.Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly sky. Good parking out the front.A must visit.
