Best croissant I’ve had in Sydney! Went on the weekend at 10, a little line up and they sold out of almond croissants :( so go early!

Came here specially to try their almond croissant (as part of a broader personal project to try all of Sydney's alleged best).Sadly, I don't think these lived up to their online reputation or hype. We tried the almond raspberry, and chocolate coconut croissant. They weren't bad - but definitely not worth a specific journey, and for the purposes of my 'best almond croissant' hunt, they were well out of the range of top 5 (see other reviews).Otherwise, the coffee was good, I just wouldn't pick Penny Fours for a croissant.

Thank goodness you’re back. And congratulations!! I had the last baked thing in the shop and it was effing delicious ;) Spinach, goats cheese and sweet potato quiche.

Best croissants I have ever had to date and this is comparing with renowned Parisian patisseries / boulangeries. Cannot compare these to Lune in Melbourne or any other that I've tried. Penny Fours blows them out of the water. The only other croissant I've had that comes close is from Bakkerij Mater in Amsterdam.Penny Fours focuses on good quality ingredients and it shows (/ you can taste it ;) ). They also sell really great bread and lots of other yummy treats. Glad it's close to the house... or perhaps that's a dangerous thing. Thanks Penny and thanks to your mum!

As soon as you step in, you want to try everything! We only took the chocolate croissant and plain one but the quality and taste is there! Sooo good! The waitress is really nice and lovely! The small queue at the front is quick and you don't wait more than 5-10 minutes to get in!

I was recommended this place for croissants. I’m a big fan of textbook patisserie and lune and I must say that they are better than penny four’s. The plain croissant was not as flaky and crunchy as I was expecting. The ham croissant is highly recommended, excellent technique of rolling there ham into the croissant.

The place appears to be trashed. Looks like it might have had a fire. It's a mess inside. Wish I'd known before I took the time to travel here!

The pastry is pure heaven. My favourite so far has to be the fig and custard croissant, with some sort of sugary crust on top. But I have tried the almond croissant as well, and the coconut and raspberry jam, and a few more. All excellent. The only reason I am not giving 5*, is because there is definitely room for improvement for the customer service. The staff members are quite unfriendly (or maybe just very tired) but I went there more than 3 times and the overall feeling is almost unwelcoming. Hopefully this can get better. I don't want to be a pain guys, I just believe that a place that sells the best croissants in the Inner West should have a less hostile atmosphere inside :)
