You can drive up to the lower part of the trail when the Botanic Garden is open otherwise for a bit of extra walking up hills use the car park near the Botanic Garden Cafe. The lower gates to the walk open at 8am. The walk is well signed and mostly gravel and dirt. There are steps so it’s not pram friendly unless you Harvey’s helper. It’s moderately steep and expect to hear the hum of traffic on the Centenary Highway. The reward is a cafe at the top. We like to make a loop and come down the Summit walk and then walk back along Mt Coot-tha Rd to the car. All up about 8.5 kms

Spotted Gum Trail
Lovely walk. Entry difficult to find. I’d suggest you follow the blue number 6 in the botanic gardens and enter the walk marked citriodora and from there the signs are easy to follow.

Great walking trail up to the top of the mountain. Trail itself was relatively clean, just could use a little more signs when trails converge etc.Took us about 25 minutes at serious stomp pace, allow and hour for a leisurely walk.

Nice trail except at the very top where there are sharp U turns on even ground on a steep angle - quite dangerous if you're not paying attention going down hill.

The walk itself is quite scenic although it is mostly uphill from Botanic Gardens to Mount Coot-Tha as you would expect. The track was relatively smooth with only a few loose bits. The biggest problem is very poor signage. It is very hard to find the start at the Botanic Gardens end and there are two forks in the track with no indication of which way to go. Some progress markers might help people know how much further to the top.
