Did a ghost tour here. It is a very creepy place with a ton of interesting, disturbing and unfortunately some sad history. 10/10 do recommend ghost tours here.

We took a tour with haunted horizons and did the extended paranormal investigation. They're great storytellers and the architecture, atmosphere and acoustics of the old Z ward is just the right mix as night closes in. You'll get wrapped up in its hair raising dark history even if you're a sceptic. Later when the instruments start to flicker and speak while you try to communicate with spirits you'll find yourself lured deeper into the investigation dying to find something more.

Exterior architecture is beautiful. Went on the Adelaide Haunted Horizons Ghost Tour tonight, the guide was good she was funny and presented the tour well. Disappointed that I thought the building itself would be bigger.Experiences:Something touched my foot.Something tried to take a friend's walking stick, injured her hand and left a mark on her hand from where the strap was resting.I felt like I was being followed the entire time with this overwhelming feeling of guilt and shame - to the point it made me cry, twice.Other people had a couple of experiences of being touched etc.Would be interested in coming back for a history tour to learn more about the patients.

The z ward itself is a great piece of South Australians history. Although it's quite a small building, it's a shame that there's no original furnishings still there and that some of the cells were being used for storageThe actual ghost tour wasnt what we expected, we attended as a group of 4 and unfortunately we all found it a little tedious.FYI Dress Warmly. Our tour was on a pretty cold night and it was freezing in the z ward. Would have loved to hear more history and the day to day runnings of the Z ward. Perhaps learning about some of the crimes that the prisoners had committed, or talking about certain prisoner events that occurred in specific cells/ areas of the Z ward would have been a bit more engaging, as we found it a little repetitive as a lot of the tour focused on talking about ghostly 'happenings' that had occurred on previous ghost tours.

Average daytime tour, if you want something historically based with informative guides and a slow paced walk around, the daytime tours are you best chance. Other than that, the nighttime tours are a tad more interesting. Historically speaking, wonderful building with resonating screams of past patients and the walls bleed with images of those once incarcerated here. Worth a tour if youre interetsed in historical healthcare.

The ghost tour was fabulous. I felt no ghosts tonight but I felt myself having to breathe more deeply then normal when shut in the shower cell, in the dark. Not too scary but very creepy.

A great ghost tour experience. Kag and Karen were excellent guides. No ghosts spotted this time, but a creepy and fun experience.

Loved it! Great tour of the heritage listed building and it's former inhabitants. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and had many fascinating stories to tell of Z ward and other institutions in Adelaide like the botanical gardens. Great Sunday afternoon outing.

This is a unique space with interesting history and a lot of character. Go on a tour (a history tour not a fictional ghost tour) to learn all about the building, it's clever design, and who was sent there. The story of George Brown, the only person ever to escape from Z Ward, was particularly interesting.
