Scope Cafe Lounge

Shocking attitude of staff- ordered a long black with cold milk on the side. It came without the milk. When requested she could not have had a more negative reaction short of refusing to supply it. Had intended to come back tomorrow for breakfast- but that is not going to happen now!

Lovely bright cafe. Staff couldn't be more engaging, and the chef was a pleasure to talk to. The Eggs Benedict were delightful, sauce made fresh with each order, and it shows. Savory scones fresh made and delicious.

Terrible coffee (badly burnt, took about 30 mins+). And very rude barista when delivering coffee (counter staff were lovely)... was too put off by her rudeness and demeanor to ask for coffee to be remade to make it drinkable. No comment when we left the coffees undrunk... you would think they'd enquire if they see 2x coffees ordered and not drunk after half an hour.

I have also had a few negative experiences here similar to other recent reviews. Lady serving was very rude, didn’t crack a smile and coffee was scolding hot. I really miss the good old days at Scope when the staff were young and friendly and the coffee was spot on! I’m very sad to say I won’t be going back any time soon.

Today I visited this cafe - which I often do - and ordered the soup with Turkish bread.It arrived and the soup was nice but the bread turned out to be to small halves of a toasted French baguette -no problem except it was buttered and I don’t eat butterI politely told the waitress I don’t eat butter and could I have bread without butterI wasn’t bothered that it wasn’t Turkish bread and toasted just that it was butteredAfter about 4 minutes I asked where my bread was. Thé a scruffy man who I latter learned was the owner said it always comes butteredI pointed out that it doesn’t say buttered toasted bread on the menu to which he became aggressive and said well have your money back and turned and walked back into the kitcheni said’ “ ok I’ll have my money back” to which he from the kitchen responded that he was doing some more breadAt this I said, No way just give me my money back.The owner then stormed out and tossed $10 note at me and telling me to get out of his shop.I remonstrated with him and confirmed with the waitress that I had neither been rude, aggressive or unreasonable , note she concurredThe owner then lost the plot and I thought fisticuffs may start ! He also had previously said he would call security , which I said do it.A woman patron came out of the cafe when we left and was shocked at the owners outburst and also agreed I had not been provocative or vexatiousIN SHORT I SHALL NEVER USE THIS CAFE AGAIN AND LOOK FORWARD TO THIS Basil Faulty of cafes to go bust asap

The lady told us in a real unfriendly manner we could only have coffee in a takeaway cup at 4.20pm when on the website it says they close at 5pm. Wasn't great coffee and scalded my mouth when I took a sip. She told us she was closing and we would have to move. This was also said to us in a rude manner with a scowl on her face. I wouldn't have minded what she said to us if it was delivered in a more friendly way. Never going back.

Came for breakfast with family and was disappointed with the food and drinks. Coffee was spilled and milk was burnt. We then waited 40 minutes for the food to come but it was not good. Cold and over cooked eggs. Will not be coming back.

Change of owner in recent months and then change of cooks. Seems to suddenly change cooks regularly and the food is showing. Used to be great food, now barely edible and sometimes it isn't anymore. So disappointed.

Four walk in's for breakfast, clearly front wait staff did not want or need to be there, but that was her prerogative!. Whilst two coffees were ordered extra hot, the other were not requested same, but were delivered steaming hot to the table, together with one spilt, without comment. Not a good start. Two persons ordered pancakes, sure they were not small in size, but 10 cm diameter and some 5 cm high does not constitute a pancake in W. A. Omelette was excellent and hence the 1 star. Shall we be returning, NO
