Sister rocks

It's a dramatic landmark when you approaching Stawell from the east. The graffiti, some people like it, some people don't. Some consider that it's significant part of the history of Stawell since earlier settlement in the area. So, it's an area of debate, whether it's an important historical record or ugly vandalism.But looks beyond the graffiti, it is a beautiful rock formation.It's a very good picnic are, with plenty gum trees for shade.

Great unknown little local gem - bring your paint

Awesome rocks. Has soo much potential, being right near the main road. Heaps of graffiti and rubbish as mentioned by everyone else. Graffiti is a part of the history, sure, but at least do some nice stuff people.This place could be really special if looked after. Some picnic areas and tables, an easier entrance that is signposted. EtcAnd historical information would be awesome. Like some of the old pictures of the rocks.Cool birds in the area. Spotted a golden whistler.

great place for fun and photographs. We drove passerby on our way to Melbourne. We had a good break of 40mins there. Drive slow when you are close because it’s too easy to drive pass.

Between Stawell and Ararat a place for a break. BYO lunch or just stretch the legs. These rocks were painted on for the first time around the 1870s. Folk used to picnic here and leave their names in paint on the rocks. There are many rocks and the paint work changing all the time. Its colorful and a happy place to explore. We will be dropping in next time we are in the area.

I actually stumbled across these as there is no sign posting for them whatsoever. My Dad always used to stope here whenever we went to see my Aunty and Uncle as it was a good little rest stop after a long drive and my brother and I would climb whatever rocks we could. So for me it was a bit of nostalgia and reminiscing back in the 70's simpler times, times before mobile phone and tablets and switches etc where kids went and found there own adventure. There are no toilets here. It is just an incredible amount of very large boulders, Who knows how or why they are here just out of Stawell. But I am glad to say they are still covered in graffiti. Some very funny sayings etc if you take the time to read some of them.

No wonder Stawell is such a sad little place when they let a lovely natural feature, that could be quite a draw card, be turned into a dump with mindless desecration by the local bored Big Mac groupies.It's not even worthy of being listed as street art.

Massive boulders covered in graffiti located just off the highway. Make you wonder how these boulders came into being all those millions of years ago.

Such a shame that these rocks have so much graffiti. But they are still a fascinating collection to see and take in their diverse shapes & sizes.
