Northstar Ju Jitsu

I have been a student and instructor at Northstar Martial Arts for 13 years now, and it has not been an unlucky 13. The classes are fantastic, with world class instructors and a great bunch of students. The classes teach effective self defence, that allow you to be able to defend yourself irrespective of your body shape or age. I got incredibly fit through the classes. In saying all of this, I think the real strength is that Northstar have a wonderful community of trainers and students. I keep showing up to training because it is fun to train and learn with everybody. I can quite easily see myself being a lifelong martial artist through the Northstar system.

My Son and I started here 2 months ago. It’s a great learning environment and all the instructors are very helpful. My main worry was my inexperience but all the higher belts made me feel very welcome and were eager to help me learn. Not only am I getting fitter but I’m learning a skill and changing my outlook.

Northstar Martial arts is a family. I love it so much I have become a kids trainer.I wish I started when I was a child. 40 in a few weeks I've been a Martial Artist at Northstar for approx 4 years.I have developed my confidence, co-ordination and courage.I have realised more calm in all I do.Committing to my Martial Arts black belt journey is equal to my other greatest life choice. Writing my novel.Martial Arts is a great balance for my creative writing. Physical exercise that also promotes a meditative quality.I recommend Northstar Martial Arts to anyone. It has the Art side of Martial Arts too.

I'm a latecomer to the dojo and was initially quite apprehensive but that all ended within a few minutes of entering Northstar. Sensei and his crew of trainers are the friendliest bunch of deadly folk I've ever met :-). Having been at the dojo for almost a year now I can wholeheartedly recommend it, I learn something new and inspiring every session, in a great atmosphere which combines an appropriate seriousness and focus with genuine care for each student.

I've been training at Northstar Martial Arts since I was twelve and my only regret is not starting younger. It's been a great experience - great way to get fit and keep fit. I'm now an assistant sensei and the experience keeps getting better and better - the people I've met over the years are fantastic and supportive.

My journey with Northstar began in 2008 and is going strong six years later. Northstar is an established, well run school with skilled and caring trainers and a consistently high quality teaching program. I recommend martial arts for anyone seeking to build fitness, confidence, strength and self awareness. Northstar offers all this plus the chance to connect with like-minded people and have a lot of fun. It doesn't matter how old you are; whether you are sporty or a sloth; whether you aspire to be the new Bruce Lee or you just want some exercise and new friends, there's something for everyone.

North Star Martial arts has become a home away from home. Brilliant group of like minded individuals who take training seriously but not life. I've made some great mates and enjoy training with dedicated and professional martial arts instructors.

We started our son as a four year old, and he has graduated through 2 age groups to now be in the Super Stars program and working toward his Junior Black Belt. The benefits go way beyond self defence. The program teaches self discipline, awareness and the value of working towards a long term goal. In fact he was enjoying it so much that, at age 51, I took it up also. Starting from a very low fitness base, I have trained in the program for 4 years and have now been awarded my own Black Belt. I am fitter, stronger and more centred than at any time my life.

I have been training at the Balmain dojo for 2 years, my daughter for 3. All of the instructors are excellent, very helpful, friendly and the environment is great. A really good whole body exercise every time, a lot of fun and very educational. I have never done any martial arts before as I always thought it was for the more violent individuals only, however I was wrong. I love this sport now, and I would highly recommend Northstar jiujitsu to anyone looking for a great exercise, learning self-defense, self-control, discipline and improving inner peace.
