Had the lunchtime special - food was great and it came with wine which is a nice touch.Staff were attentive and great at their job.The atmosphere was good - little noisy but good overall.Would definitely go back.

The young waitress was polite and friendly. That's the best part of our experience done. We ordered butter-aged steak 700g to share between two. The head waiter came to cut it at our request, but he might as well have been hacking at a tree. For the price of about $225/kg (close to a quarter of the weight was bone.....at least my dog was happy....) the steak was nothing special at all. We were provided a single serve of fries for two, no greens available, and the pumpkin was part cold - obviously prepped prior and improperly heated. Just acceptable for a rushed pub meal, but no chop at all for the price we paid at a venue advertising itself at the top of their game..Maybe they just had a bad day, but what sealed it for us was that the manager had the gall to argue with us about our observations. So we promised to expand on our experience and share it with other potential customers and faithfully, here it is. No return visits for us..I tell you without hesitation, the steak, fries and sauces are twice better at the Old Canberra Inn, and less than half the price (they also reliably provide customers with green beans).

Service was excellent. Food delicious and steak cooked exactly as ordered with good sear. Quiet for most part with a few kids around for lunch.Wine list pretty good.Only thing stopping a 5 star rating was the wine list indicated a 2015 wine which I ordered but only the 2019 vintage with a name change was available at same price. Changed to another wine that was as listed. This was superb. Please change the wine list.

We used a red balloon experience for wedding anniversary. Calamari and pork belly for entree. We got chicken skewer and steak for main followed by crème brûlée for desert. The meal did not disappoint and the attention of writing happy anniversary on the desert plates was lovely. They could have attended more to us. At the beginning as our sitting was 8.30pm it was hard to get someone to take our order. The drinks menu was taken after our included glass of wine we given. And then asked for the menu and it never came. I would have also like the options to buy more entrees. The ambiance was nice, we were seated inside. I would definitely be coming back it’s my second visit

Couldn't eat anything the whole night after eating a half rack! Lol The side salad was bigger then expected (not bad at all). One of the best places I've eaten in Canberra so far!The staff were amazing too!Parking was close, just across the road. Easy to find parking if the Theatre isn't having any events.Probably need a sandwich board out front telling customers where the entrance is, we walked right past it and noticed other first timers who came in after us also did the same.Otherwise, it was overall a great experience!

Came here with the two kids.I had the Aged O'Connor which was delightful. My wife was sceptical but she got the Shorthorn Rib Eye and it was the best steak she's had in a very long time.Kids Mac n Cheese was made with care as was the Chicken and Chips kids meals.Dessert was fabulous. Everything is house made. Even down to the ice cream which was a delicious end to the night for us.Staff and service is second to none. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and the chefs recommendations. They knew every detail about each cut and each brand of meat available.Price was more than reasonable for what you get.We were very glad to have picked this restaurant to eat dinner during our visit into Canberra.

Would give 3 stars if it's not overpriced.I ordered a rid eye steak (200g $59+$5 sauce), asked for medium well but it tasted like it was well done. My friend's slow-cooked pork ribs are not tender enough. She complained even Kinn Thai has tender rids than these ones. The steak is hard to chew and tasted so dry. I regret ordering chips with it, instead of salad, because the combo made me finish the sauce before I finished the meal. Not to mention I was keeping drinking water because of that.A good place for dating: convenient location, attentive service and fancy decorations. But it's a bad place for single meat lovers.

Classic example of simple things done well... delicious steak cooked well with the best blue cheese sauce, sides outstanding too. Great wines to choose. Lite and delicious sticky date dessert. Glad we didn't order entrees as there was ample in 2 courses. Loved the seating too. Easy to hear conversation and inobtrusive but attentive service. Great experience.

A nice lunch, shared a couple of well cooked rib-eyes, chips and greek salad. Creme brulee and hazelnut cake for dessert. A little chilly sitting near the door, and had to go for a long walk to the bathrooms outside the restaurant. Pina colada could have had less foam and more drink too.
