I stumbled upon Birkdale Optical after negative experiences elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised to discover such a professional and friendly practice. Martin communicates clearly and simply and there is no hint of the high pressure selling of extras and ancillaries common in other stores. I cannot recommend Birkdale Optical highly enough.

Dr Martin McKenna provided a truly thorough eye testing service; he really knows his work and he used both manual methods as well as the latest diagnostic equipment to see what was happening for me. He is genuinely interested in new patients and after wearing glasses for 25 years, I gained new information about my eyes because he took the time to explain to me how my eyes see. The range of frames accounts for most styles and practice staff will help you find what you want. I'm really glad I chose to support local business and the independent guy! Very impressive!

Birkdale Optical! Martin McKenna is the best Optometrist in the business. We come from South Brisbane to do eye tests and get glasses. He's the best! My whole family go to him, now my husband needed glasses, we picked them up today, and he tested my eyes for diabetes complications, but I'm all clear! Good stuff all round.
