Golden Palace Bakery has been our family's number one place for Chinese baked goods and it remains legendary to this day. Although the interior may not be the most attractive, the bare-bones setting is reflective of where the bakery's priorities lie: The food. Take your tray and tongs, we'll be picking out some of my favourites and greeting the kind aunties at the cashier.The BBQ pork bun is a popular choice with all patrons and Golden Palace has perfected the medium to its optimum. Sporting the bakery's signature pillowy, golden dough that comforts the soul, the star of the show makes its grand entrance with a flavourful intensity wedding sweet and savoury. Inside is generously packed with cubes of succulent pork that wash you over with mouthwatering meatiness. The jammy BBQ sauce also smothers the walls and ceiling of the bun, ensuring that every moment is unforgettably scrumptious.Another popular Cantonese sweet treat is the pineapple bun known for its latticed resemblance. Golden Palace's bun has seen the rooftops of heaven with its glowing, biscuit-like crust, a paragon of Cantonese pastry arts. One bite and the crust crumbles into sugary joy, crunching through coconut shavings and rebounding against the supple bun.That captivating texture and mellow sweetness of coconut re-emerges as the star of their coconut buns and tarts. The buns, which are more like mini loaves, are overflowing with waves of spiky dough embedded with coconut. I love the spectacular crunch and nuttiness brought by the toasted crust. There are even swirls of coconut that permeate through the soft bread, giving a mild sweetness. But I adore how bold the flavours are in the coconut tarts with the same roasted fragrance and coconut filling packed inside a buttery pastry cup. Finish it off with a candied cherry and you have the tart of my dreams.I've saved the best for last, the most difficult to procure but once it's in your hands, you feel like you're the happiest person alive. It is the epic egg tart and the Golden Palace does the most delicious type of crust to pair with the creamy egg. A rich and dense crust similar to shortbread ignites the deliciousness party in your mouth before inviting the smooth egg custard and its milky sweetness. The egg tarts with a breaded crust are only available in boxes but believe me, that's a good thing because you'll want more than one!What I have showcased is only a fraction of the many fresh and affordable options you can choose at the bakery. Golden Palace is the #1 Chinese bakery in Hurstville and nothing will change my mind.

The worst birthday cake I ever have. We bought a sesame cake. $2x. Not worth it. Only sesame sponge cake and cream. The strawberries on top are bruised and not even half in size. So unprofessional. No skill at all. I would rather go Bread Top or Bakery King Cake Shop Hurstville. I would highly NOT recommend it.

I ordered a mango cake, it was so delicious and not pricey at all.Highly recommend.

Reasonably priced. I love the egg tarts and swiss rolls here. The swiss rolls are fluffy and are complimented by cream and it's not overly sweet.

Last couple times I have gone there, the chicken bun and curry chicken buns had bone knuckles and bone pieces.In one curry bun, three 5cent (2cm)piece sized bones of varying roundness and sharpness.Has been a favourite of mine through the years but now I am very disappointed.Bones in food, not good... and more care needs to be taken in the food preparation side.

Great old-school Chinese bakery with all the good stuff: pineapple buns, paper cupcakes, cocktail buns, etc. etc. Not too sweet!

Best bakery in Hurstville hands down - breads and cakes are consistently more fresh than any other bakery in the area. The egg tarts and pineapple buns are a must try!
