About the Business

Borumba | Seqwater | About Borumba Borumba Dam is located just south of Gympie and stores water for drinking as well as irrigation as part of the Mary Valley irrigation scheme. Built across Yabba Creek, the Borumba Dam was originally completed in 1963 and upgraded in 1997. It is an un-gated dam, meaning that when it reaches 100 per cent capacity, water flows over the spillway and safely out of the dam. Borumba Dam
I spent a few days there earlier this year, and absolutely loved it, the swim hole is massive, the grounds are well kept, and the dam wall is just a short trip up the hill, the boys there do a great job looking after the place. Can't wait to go back...

Had a day trip up here. Facilities are what to be expected at the actual dam and maintained. I couldn't understand the point of having this place open if you can't even walk the dam wall. No access anywhere. It looked rather run down in areas, like the dam wall lookout gazebo. No playgrounds for kids. No swimming. If there were bbq's.. i didn't see them. So take your picnic, a fishing rod and boat, there is nothing to do! As for the camp ground down the road which i thought was another disappointment (no you don't even camp close to the dam), it looked tidy. I could only see 1 block of amenities, with 2 doors per sex with a pin coded locked entry, so makes me wonder is that it? Would be a horrendous wait if the place was packed! No day area use allowed. Quite unimpressed with the whole area really.

Beautiful place and if the pumped hydro project happens it will further enhance the area.

If you love the outdoors this is the place to be, especially if you have a boat and enjoy fishing. There are under cover gas bbq facilities and picnic tables. Public toilets. Not too much parking on busy days. Overall a beautiful place.

Borumba Dam
Unfortunately the scenic photo opportunities available to the general public make it difficult to show this to its best advantage. However the Mary Valley is absolutely gorgeous st this time of the year and, with the very heavy rain the whole of Queensland has had, the verdant greens and the spectacular colours of the Jacaranda trees and the mountain rain forest foliage and blooms are spectacular.

Fantastic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Plenty of picnic tables, only two BBQ's. There are toilet facilities too. The road out there is sketchy at best, with single lane bridges hidden behind blind corners.

Borumba Dam
Great spot for a picnic or water sports. Fishings a good past time from boat or shoreline but a bit slow since the floods. The area is a pristine part of the Mary Valley.

This dam has created Lake Borumba. There is a visitor's lookout hut. Further down the road there is a day use area with good amenities. The boat ramp is also located at the day use area.

A really great dam so close to the sunshine coast.Good for both fisher people and those enjoying some water sports.Do take care when on the boat ramp, it is slippery, even without shoes.Has parking for both cars and trailers, has toilet facilities and plenty of picnic area and tables to enjoy some lunch. If not boating, enjoy the views, well worth the drive to have a day visit.
