This art is ancient, yet in incredibly resilient condition. It feels incredibly spiritual visiting it, and we are lucky to be on a continent with such an ancient artistic tradition. To all the people complaining about the access fee: maybe reflect on the fact you spent $80,000+ on a Toyota Landcruiser yet won’t spend the same amount as a museum entrance fee to witness some of the oldest art in the world, in-situ. Shame on you.

Price increased to $30. Many other cultural/indigenous facilities in Australia do not charge as much for visitors. The track up to the split cave has not been tended to, so the plants have over grown the path. Had to keep checking for ticks and spiders. Toilets dirty and no toilet paper or hand soap. Should have these minimum standard met when pay $30. If the facilities and walking paths are not to be maintained it should be free.

I loved the whole experience, the information signs were even beautiful - $30 is very good value for how special this place is - the toilet when I was here was clean, had toilet paper, there was water & soap to wash your hands - highly recommend stopping along the way!

Very good aboriginal art site. Steep climbing. Take water with you and camera to take some photos.Worthwhile to organise a guide from Quinkan art centre if you want to know more about paintings.

This is a good one. It is quite a drive up here from Pt Douglas or Cairns, but was worth it. We really wanted to see some of the historical rock art, but a separate flight to Darwin was really out of the question given both time constraints and budget. This was a great compromise, and allowed us to see the aboriginal rock art and Great Barrier Reef together in a single leg of our trip. To our untrained eyes, it was really great quality. Be well prepared, as others mention, with plenty of water, and some snacks. We made a full day out of it, including the drive there and back, which was several hours in each direction. Our return drive was done at dusk, and we encountered two herds of cattle crossing the road, one of which had a very stubborn bull that didn't want to cross. We kept our distance and simply waited patiently, which delayed us a bit, but no big deal. Anyhow, drive carefully, getting there and back, and enjoy this historical wonder. What I would give to see a similar piece of art of a similar age from my own ancestry! This is incredible.PS Yes, as others mention, please bring some cash to pay the fee/donation at the entry/parking lot. Especially if, as we had, you had managed to save over $1,000 in flight costs and two or three days of travel time by not visiting Kakadu. The least you can do is bring some money to keep this place open to the public. Indeed, the facilities are primitive, but the beauty is that you might just get the place to yourself, as we had.

My husband and I came here 15th December doing the self guided tour. It was well worth the entry fee. It was just us there and we were enchanted for lack of a better word. It was calming but eerie at the same time. It definitely felt spiritual. The walk to the art was a little tough but I’ve had a lot of knee operations and I still managed, but I’d say definitely be prepared as the track is very steep.Absolutely loved it and I want to come back again to tour with a guide and see the art not available on the self guided tour.

Interesting stop off heading north, rock art quite faded and not that obvious in bright light, track slightly challenging for some.

Well worth the detour, the self-guided price could appear high at first but it is definitely worth paying not only because of the rock art itself but because of the absolute lack of graffitti or any form of instagramer-induced defacing. We were happy to deposit our 30 AUD per person in the honesty box and highly encourage all other visitors to proceed similarly.Do not forget to bring sufficient drinking water, a good hat and a hand towel or garden glove, the hand rail gets VERY hot during the daylight hours.
