After going to various vets for our dog's skin condition and allergies, we heard about Melbourne veterinary specialist clinic and thought that we would give this a try. We were desperately trying to find a way to help Milo and didn't want him to keep suffering. When we first got there a nurse took a case history of Milo and then he went in for 10-15 minutes with the specialist, Dr Rebecca Bassett who then called us to let us know our options. She was mostly focused on being annoyed at the other vets that we took him to and focused on that for most of the time. As we had tried numerous methods to assist Milo and knew what did and didn't work in regards to diet, she did not try and help with problem solve and assist at all. She spoke with us for 5-10 minutes, was not willing to answer questions and when did he continue asking questions she said she's going to hang up and pass to the nurses. We were not allowed to go in due to COVID-19, considering this and being a 'specialist' she showed no empathy or geniuene care to help us. We spent over $400 and walked away with nothing helpful. Ironically we got more out of the appointment with the vet she was complaining about, than her.

Took my gorgeous dog here. Was diagnosed with Addison’s disease. Medication, blood tests. Wouldn’t listen to me when I kept telling them the medication was too strong. She didn’t get any better. I was taking her back repeatedly, paying for expensive blood tests, and medication. My dog had to be put down eventually, by another vet clinic, who diagnosed her with a brain tumour. Which made sense from her signs. Big mistake going to Melb vet, and I would never go back there. They have no idea, and I really don’t think they care. It’s all about money. The vet who treated my dog displayed her honours degree. Lol. Do vets really care? Or is it all about money? That’s what I am thinking.

My dog Ellie had been battling a skin condition of unknown origins for over 12-months before we were able to see a Dermatology specialist at MVSC, we initially had tried to book Ellie in last year, but being spring (allergy season), there weren't openings for new patients until in the new year. We called early in the new year and didn't have to wait too long to see Dr Madelaine Guy-Moore.Dr Maddy is amazing, she is so compassionate and within a few weeks had been able to diagnose Ellie's autoimmune skin disease with no invasive procedures. Poor Ellie had seen her GP so many times and even had several biopsies taken before seeing the team at MVSC. She had been suffering without treatment or a diagnosis prior to seeing Dr Maddy and a lot of her zest for life had disappeared.Dr Maddy and Dr David Robson are so responsive to our emails and while we know Ellie has an autoimmune disease, she has other issues with the skin that suggest something else is going on and has recently had a biopsy taken to get to the bottom of it. Due to these changes, and Ellie's advanced age (15 years, 7 months), we have been emailing almost daily with updates and seeking advice and both Dr David and Dr Maddy are very responsive, compassionate and informed. Our only regret is not booking Ellie in as soon as it was clear we weren't getting answers from her GP (through no fault of their own, Ellie hasn't presented clinically and what she is going through isn't a very common complaint that GP's would see often). For a niche specialty, the price isn't exorbitant and the value and care level is amazing. The entire team of staff at MVSC treat Ellie like she's an angel which she definitely isn't, as she has reached her limit of being poked and prodded after 18 months of skin and eye issues - she is also completely blind and can be quite nasty and bite when she's had enough!.If you have an animal with skin issues, do not hesitate to book in with MVSC, the team are amazing and really know their stuff. Thank you so much for everything you have done for our sweet old girl over the past few months. It means a lot to us.

Was very impressed with the consultation, considering stressful situation with my bestest girl. Very knowledgeable and informative vet. Took her time to explain the symptoms and do all the relevant tests.

Have had a great experience seeing the dermatology team here with my dog. Lovely, kind and intelligent nurses made me feel comfortable and well informed whilst having to stay out of the clinic due to COVID-19 restrictions.Excellent communication from both the nurses and the vet regarding the treatment and treatment plans for my dogs skin.Highly recommend.

Unfortunately we didn’t receive the care we were expecting for our beautiful boy. He was distressed and crying out and they gave him no medication to help it. We drove over 3 hours thinking we were getting special help for our baby but we had no better care than our local vet. They wouldn’t guarantee that we would see a specialist the following day even though there was a free time slot. So much more to our experience and Happy to elaborate by PM. We would have done anything to save our boy but didn’t receive the care he required in our opinion. RIP to our gorgeous, gentle GS that only deserved the best but didn’t get it in the end. Horrendous experience.
