Okami Japanese Restaurant
We had a great experience at the Niddrie Okami branch.The food was coming fast. The sushi was fresh and the beef carpaccio was on next level.The staff was friendly and attentive. I have seen this service is lacking in most other Okami restaurants where the service is slow and have to wait and call someone to come to your table to order.We had a good time here enjoying the food.

Okami Japanese Restaurant
This is a decent Japanese restaurant with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. For $36 per person, you can order gyoza, sliced and diced meats, takoyaki, soba noodle and much more.My favourite would have to be the Miso Steak. This is the highlight, but everything else was pretty mediocre. The service was pretty good up until the end when they took 15 minutes for a few scoops of ice cream.

All you can eat Japanese!!! How can you go wrong.The food comes out quickly, it’s tastes great and if very reasonably priced…— We came in for their second sitting and as a party of 10 we had the wait to be seated with 40-50 ppl in a very small cramped area until all the tables were reset for service.Ideally they should seat everyone as they come in, then you can start service when they’re ready, I think you’ll find people are happier to wait at a table with their friends than in a tiny entrance having the first sitting people squeezing to get passed to leave.— No Split Bills! This makes no business sense!We tried to pay with cash and 2 cards, they would have no part of it! “We can do cash and one card but not 2 cards”… What’s the difference?(I know the girl was only doing her job)The only foreseeable reason you don’t split bills in a restaurant is either for accounting purposes or to not bottle neck people leaving?They have no problem bottle necking people coming in, so why do it when WE WANT TO GIVE YOU MONEY!Makes no sense, you’re a business take money from people any way they want to give it to you, allocating two credit card stubs to one table is just lazy, it turned a great dining experience where we wanted to leave a generous tip into a sour ending with no tip!Great food and plenty of it, just need to be a little more customer experience focused, it’s not just about the food.

We always go to all the Okami restaurants. We visited this Okami Niddrie. All you can eat Japanese is one of our family favourites. We love Japanese food and we always leave happy and satisfied.They have a set buffet menu, with cold sushi platters, and a simple hot food. My kids always order seaweed salad, sushi platters, chicken skewers, and fried chicken. Service was friendly and food was served really quickly. Restaurant was busy and bustling and the atmosphere was great.Our favourite is the sushi/sashimi platter. It’s always fresh and tasty. The salmon is absolutely delicious.y favourite is the seaweed salad and mushroom salad. My kids love the tasty crispy chicken and my husband loves the beef Stirfry with fried rice.It’s a great family restaurant and good value for money. They have convenient locations all throughout Melbourne. We love it

We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints - authentic Japanese food done well. Beautiful decor, attentive staff and fantastic food. We ordered a range of dishes and they arrived quickly and were delicious

The Okami restaurant is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants. It's an all-you-can-eat place with good rules (if you waste from 200g+ food, surcharges apply and I find it fair).The food is delicious and there's a vast choice of dishes and drinks.I loved the tempura and the miso steak!

So this was an interesting experience. We were seated and given menus and ordered what we wanted off the menu, not realising it was a buffet. After looking at the menu I see that was described in the illustration, but we didn’t look at the illustration because we thought it was just to decorate the menu.We ordered thinking it was a la carte.We couldn’t eat all our meal so we asked to take away what we didn’t eat. They said no that we couldn’t take away buffet food. We were confused because we thought we were ordering a la carte. We weren’t walking up to a serving area and picking items out of a buffet.So anyway we said ok well then it will have to be thrown out then. We were then told there was a surcharge for wastage. She showed us where it said that in the menu. What it said was “extra charges may occur if waste is over 200g”. What is the charge you ask? $10 per person. For us that was $40. My mind is officially blown, but not in a good way.Plus side is food was quick coming out. Was it great food? It was ok, the sushimi at the Sushi Bar takeout shop in Uni Hill is fresher.First and last visit to this restaurant.If I could offer some advice, maybe explain how it all works to your customers before they order. In my mind if you get given a menu and it’s not set menu then its a la carte.A simple “have you been here before?” would be a good start and for people that hadn’t been before then I would suggest an explanation of how it all works.
