Holt Developments undertook a number of pieces of work on our house during the year and the quality of work was fantastic. Fergus is very knowledgable about different styles of buildings and the best approach to take. He completed everything as promised, no problem was too big to solve and he was always on time. We will definitely continue to work with Fergus for the rest of our home improvement needs and have recommended Holt Developments to other people.

We contacted Holt Developments after we discovered termite damage in our Federation terrace; we needed work done as fast as possible because our front door was falling off! (The frame had been hollowed out.) Fergus and co. came out first thing the next morning, quoted us for the door frame, and started work that afternoon - they restored the frame within hours - removing and replacing the damaged timber, preserving the heritage face while reinforcing the frame's structure so that it wouldn't give way again (the door has a leadlight window, so it's not light!). We got a great solution at a good price. Later, we had them replace the pitched roof on our garage, and after that repair the heritage gable and parapet at the front of our house - they've done a great job every time.

Fergus has done two projects in my garden: 20m of raised garden bed and paving for an entertainment area. I've been happy with the suggestions he made and his willingness to work with my vision/plan as it developed. I've found him to be responsive to my calls and I'm very happy with the results. Fergus:Now that the dust is settling, figuratively speaking, I want to thank you for your time and effort in the reconstruction of our Victorian-era terrace-house balcony. What had for decades been an unsafe place due to severe structural issues, is now an additional space for relaxation, especially in the late afternoons with the sun behind the trees.In these days when experiences with trades people can be less than satisfactory, it was refreshing to work with you over the weeks while you first dismantled and then carefully rebuilt the structure — a task made more difficult given the overall damage and the heritage requirements of the task. Being your “offsider” for the duration not only kept cost down, but actually taught this old handyman a bunch of new tricks. In your affable way, you were very generous with your considerable knowledge and experience. Your excellent problem-solving skills were well appreciated given the dilapidated condition of the balcony.You kept me informed at every stage of the process and explained what needed doing, and the outcome I should expect. Where more specialised trades people were needed, you organised them to complete their work in a timely manner and without delays to the overall project. Where I needed a week’s “time out”, you rescheduled your work load seamlessly.Although you could not quote an fixed cost for the project, you guided me through the process, both in terms of your own agreed fees and the cost of materials which I acquired under your guidance and advice. You identified problems as they became evident and allowed time for potential solutions to be assessed.This was no small project, but in the end I feel that I certainly got good value for the cost. Being an old house, there are heaps of maintenance and repair jobs that need to be done — none of them on the scale of the balcony, but many requiring your patience, eye for detail and analytical approach.When I’ve finished the remaining DIY and non-essential bits and pieces, I look forward to getting you over so I can share with you the finished project … without the sound of hammers and saws ringing in our ears.

Had our old kitchen removed with minimum fuss. We brought them back to fix the awning over our front window. No complaints with either project. Very happy
