We couldn’t be more grateful to Halie for the way she carried us through the planning of and the actual funeral with such kindness, care and thoughtfulness. From our first meeting with Halie through to and after the funeral, we felt heard, understood and so securely held by her in our darkest hours. She helped us create something that was not only beyond what we could have hoped for, but also a true reflection of my sister and what she would have wanted. We are forever grateful to Hailey for the warmth, compassion and understanding she has given us and feel so blessed that we had her by our side guiding us through those dark and unchartered waters when we were at our most vulnerable.

When my father passed away in January 2022 I wanted to bring his body home for a couple of days before he was cremated. Hallie facilitated the entire process seamlessly. The care and grace with which she cared for my father and our family was exceptional. She helped us at a time when we were vulnerable and grieving in a professional yet deeply kind way. Having her there made the experience more human and less painful. I would recommend Paperbark Death care unreservedly.

What a truly incredible gift and divine blessing it was that Halie @paperbarkdeathcare came into our world during my Mums passing. We had known that we wanted to celebrate and honour our Mums life in the most sacred and reverent of ways. However what we were envisioning, we hadn’t seen done before. The traditional church or funeral home services didn’t resonate with Mum, and I knew, with the deepest primal part of me, that no strange person in a black suit was going to come and take my Mothers body away from us. We felt so strongly that honouring the physical body in death is just as important as in life. And that sadly, most Cremation Services are a huge Corporation ($$) and lack the reverence and care essential in this tender time.We were going to do it all on our own, however during that time, we just didn’t have the bandwidth to research and vet Funeral Directors, Cremation Services etc.We were delivered a real life Earth Angel, Halie and her @paperbarkdeathcare. She guided us through every step of the process with extraordinary care, awareness, tenderness, intuition and wisdom. The morning after Mum passed into the next, Halie came to be with us. We bathed and cared for her physical body one last time. We dressed and adorned her. And through Halie’s wisdom and practices, we had our Mama with us at home for another almost 5 days in Vigil. Her physical body preserved in time, so that we could sit with her and give our cells, hearts, minds and selves time to process a little more. No one came and took her away. Or rushed us to make decisions. After passing, there is so much time. Nothing needs to be rushed for the sake of others schedules and availabilities. Halie explained every step of the process to us. The medical requirements, the legal processes and how it all can flow after someone passes. We didn’t know what the process was at all. But Halie facilitated everything. When we were ready for her cremation. Halie was again with us. She had inspired us to decorate the beautiful Eco board resting bed, which had done with our community. We transferred Mum’s body, wrapped and shrouded into the resting bed. She looked like pure Royalty. Like the way Pharaohs and Queens of ancient times were treated. And into Halie’s vehicle. She gave me the opportunity to drive with her, so I was still by Mums side. Halie has such incredible awareness and tenderness for what could be needed by the grieving family. At the Cemetry, On the grass surrounded by Paper Bark trees, with a very small few, we were led through a smoking ceremony. And shared what our Mothers legacy meant to us. And then we carried her, on her last bush walk, through the trees, across a little stream and up to the final flames. My family and I were present to every single moment of it. Nothing went behind closed doors.Halie facilitated us so beautifully through this remembering of these ways of navigating death. Held us so competently. And assisted us in making each step of the process so beautiful, meaningful and sacred. Her facilitation of our Celebration of Life for Mum was divine.Working with PaperBark was transformative. For our whole family, and all who witnessed the process. We are truly honoured to have had the gift of this experience.Such important work.Eternally grateful. Truly.
