The Maurocco Bar has great character. Based in the architecturally gracious old Midland Hotel, on the corner across the road from the Castlemaine Railway Station.Inside be enchanted by the old world art nouveau deco, comfy armchairs, private corners and a lovely courtyard garden out the back.The Maurocco Bar is also a place for music. Jazz, folk, even the occasional mediaeval minstrel songs.A great place to rest, socialise, or be entertained. Well worth a visit.

Great place with funky, cool decor. This bar is well suited to a mature crowd with good local beers and wines on offer, not to mention their cocktails. Nibble plates on offer this is a very good spot to meet up with friends for a drink and conversation.

I was born here 31 years ago and just love the atmosphere. The service is quite good and I've rarely had cause to complain. The fact that children are discouraged was a little awkward due to my glue allergy and the need to wear a fake beard. It's been smooth sailing since I've been able to grow my own though.

Great vibe for jazz performance - subtle mood lighting, comfortable couch and chair seating. Good range of local wines. Quirky art deco and northern African decor. Love it!

I was visiting Castlemaine for the weekend and found this place not far from the station. Really nice courtyard out the back and coffee was great! A unique place, its a beautiful old building. I'll be heading back there for the Sunday jazz sessions when I next go up to Castlemaine.

Wonderful place relaxed open areas with sofas chairs open wood fire.Fully stocked bar.Your host is traditional European friendly and non intrusive.Makes great coffee without all the fuss along with authentic ports from Europe and local of course.His prices are really outdated being from several years ago.You will love it.
