There are very few times I am lost for words. Word of caution, the sides are epic and the meals look small but amazingly filling! Every taste, texture, ambience, atmosphere and hospitable hosts you could ever ask for.I can't even complain about the price because it was just THAT good!Be prepared to drink up on the beer package (share it around!) And they smoke their own rainbow trout and meats there in the window.Crispy salty sides, tender chicken and beef, crunchy bitter and creamy bone marrow Broulee. Servers dressed to match the Nordic vibe and deco. This was all the real deal! Will come back next anniversary with more stomach space!Better shared as a group. Otherwise sides are too filling for 2 people only.Only recommendation to make better is live Norwegian folk music/drinking songs!

Dinner here with some friends. Was a fun dinning experience. Tried one of the drinks and some mead. Got to pick a knife to use, they give you a selection with different handles but the blades are all the same. The bone marrow and bread starter was really good. I enjoyed the potato and broccoli sides a lot. Crispy broccoli is my recommended pick. In order of my preference for mains: beef > chicken > pork. We had dessert too but I personally didn’t think they were worth talking mentioning.Staff were friendly and some in character for the theme of the restaurant. They let us take pictures with a cape and shield at the end too. Fun themed restaurant with good food and atmosphere.

Hidden behind a door in a busy Redfern street and down a flight of stairs with hanging chain-like curtain, you will find yourself in a sophisticated dining experience reimaged in the God of thunder, Thor. Select your blade, drink Mead from a horn, your dinner starts off with your host in an opening viking prayer by downing shots. The pricing point is above moderate, however you pay for the unique experience. It would be nice if dessert was served here maybe in the form of berries/ honey etc. May Odin grant you a unique food experience that we enjoyed.

We booked for our 10 year anniversary and we got the most amazing experience here. We loved it. The food is is to die for, the staff are lovely and the aesthetics are amazing ! I can’t wait to go back. It’s a completely worth the experience and the price to celebrate an special occasion.

My sister booked this reservation for our family six weeks ago. We arrived at Mjolner before our booking time of 7:15 p.m. We were seated at the cramped bar until past 7:40 p.m. and when we were finally taken to our crumb-filled table the waitress gave us free shots of mead and announced, “May Odin give you knowledge on your path. May Thor grant you strength & courage on your way. And may Loki give you laughter as you go…”Little did we know we would need strength and laughter to endure this “restaurant”.We were unapologetically told that our cut off time of 9:15 p.m. remained even though we were taken to our table half an hour late and not informed of the policy upon booking or reservation confirmation. We followed their advice and ordered entrees and mains at the same time so that we could have enough time to eat it all. There were similar dismayed sentiments on the surrounding tables, and they gave us all one round of free shots to subdue the complaints.Four out of the five entrees arrived, and the rude-toned waitstaff didn’t seem to notice that a dish was missing, or care that our drinks were constantly delayed. Keep in mind that the food menu only has a choice of five entrees, six mains and three sides. Then we waited, and we waited, and we waited. The waitstaff confirmed again that we would have to leave at 9:15 p.m. No apologies, no clarification of where our mains were. Then it got to 9:00 p.m. We left our table and went to the front desk where we informed the host that we would be leaving as our mains still hadn’t arrived and IF they did there was no way we could eat them in ten minutes. He was surprised, he told us he would get the manager, the manager refused to speak to us. We paid for our entrees and drinks and left hungry with no apology. If we had stayed and waited to eat our food (assuming we wouldn’t have been kicked out, as other reviews claim) the patrons who crowded the bar area would have probably been waiting for our table for another hour. Thank God for McDonald’s or my sister wouldn’t have been able to take her medication in time.I don’t recommend this “restaurant” to anyone, especially if you are looking for an authentic norse experience.

Just a wonderful restaurant with top class food and service. Great atmosphere and, if you like meat, this is heaven. Decor is in keeping with the viking them, but not overdone. Brilliant!

This is more than a restaurant, it is an experience. From the moment you walk in you feel like you've been transported into Viking times. The menu is limited but the food that they serve is amazing in the way it looks and tastes. Being able to drink out of a Viking horn was a highlight and an absolute must. For a very unique dining experience, Mjølner is the place to go.

The drinks, candle, card and shot glass were all lovely touches for our birthday boy and was really unexpected. Really good cocktail list and whiskies available. Staff were all attentive and provided great service. Food was on point too. We had a great night. Not being able to find the venue was a quirk but we thought the discreet entrance added to the mystery and charm of the night. Well done. Skal!
