Cruden Farm
Very good example of an old cottage mansion in Australia past. To be preserved for posterity to be enjoyed by future generations.

This is a lovely place to visit for a walk through many different areas of garden. I was fortunate to find details of the guided tour which only runs on the third Sunday of the month. This was definitely worth joining for information on the history of the garden and about the plants and upkeep of the garden.

The gardens at Cruden Farm are absolutely charming and well maintained. Unfortunately the house itself is not open to the public but there is a coffee shop that is open (check the hours) and toilets on site. Well worth a visit to see this historic family home.

Cruden Farm
Cruden Farm once was the home of the late Dame Elisabeth Murdoch. A little piece of history set in tranquil, beautifully manicured gardens which change with the seasons. The 133acres includes a working farm and stables built by Percy MeldrumA very special place to wander around with friends to find a picture around every corner

Cruden Farm is open Monday to Friday and one Sunday a month when garden tours can be booked. The long driveway contains 130 aromatic lemon scented gums.Other features are the House, the Picking Garden, the Walled Garden, the Stables, the Dam and the Lake.Well worth a visit. Good place for a picnic. Tea and coffee are available.

I've wanted to come here for at least 3 years after reading an article about Dame Elizabeth. So glad i did. There is something about walking up the original drive way that is very evocative, the scent of the gums that everyone talks about is not exaggerated. You imagine what the area must have been like when it was all farm land and not residential suburbs. Don't expect huge areas of flowering garden, the walled garden and picking garden are charming and gave me gardeners envy but the lawns lakes and amazing trees are beautiful.

Simply the most amazing and tranquil garden I've ever strolled through. To see someone's vision of beauty, long after they have passed, be continued through the dedicated and caring staff, is seeing life unfold. Right there. Right now.
