Taekwondo is the BEST form of discipline and exercise for a kid. My son has been at ITFA for a few years and loves it! It is calming for his mind, strength for his body and gives him confidence to defend himself. Give it a go!!!!

Senior Master Rhee and the other instructors are absolutely brilliant - knowledgeable, respectful, loving, inspirational and very good at what they do. They really care and have built a really nice Taekwondo community. My boys started 3 years ago and in that time have gained not only strength, coordination and agility, but also a whole lot of confidence, mental strength and leadership skills. Training with Master Rhee has made them centered and strong has set them up beautifully to manage through the upcoming teenage years.I would highly recommend any parent to come and have a trial class...it is too good to miss out on!

This is an amazing Taekwondo school. Master Andrew Rhee is a true example to my 2 boys and he really instills the 5 tenets of Taekwondo (Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit) into his lessons. My boys are benefitting both physically and mentally from his guidance and loving every bit of it.

My 8yo daughter Lily has been with this club for almost a year now and she is thoroughly enjoying it. She is learning great skills and self discipline, which is boosting her confidence and abilities. She is privileged to be under the instruction of Master Rhee, a firm, fair and dedicated instructor. We hope for many years of great experience and learning to come. =)

I'm all for discipline, I like discipline. But perhaps better suited for older kids. As for us it was borderline military in my opinion. My son, who is by nature a happy kid who would give things a fair try, very much dreaded going to taekwondo classes at ITFA Alexandria. In the past, even when he didn't like the extra curricular activities I enrolled him in, he was never as unhappy as he was with going to ITFA.He and I both tried to push through for 3-4 terms. Finally the thought hit me, that my 6 year old son was expected to understand and learn as quickly as the older kids in the gym. If the instruction is not clear enough for a child, shouldn't the adult be adjusting his communication? Not having classes focused for a targeted age group (i.e. not having separate classes for say 6-8 yo and a separate class for 9-13, etc) means my son stays there for a longer period (up to 2 hours each class) but doesn't get much more out of it. I preferred if classes were specifically targeted for kids in a similar age group and goes for 45 mins, which would be more efficient (they'd still get all the learning, in a shorter amount of time). Most other places would also be very understanding to credit fees whenever a kid is injured. I would know because my son's soccer school, my daughter's ballet school, their swim school.. all provide credits or makeup classes. But when 1 week into Nov last year, my son broke his arm and Nov was already paid in advance... I requested via email, providing all the doctor/hospital certificates, to be credited the prorated month when we're unable to attend... they simply ignored my question... They only confirmed that they will halt membership fees until January (which was the 2nd part of my request). Didn't think it's worthwhile to pursue this or the paid grading we end up not participating because we've just had enough.

I have recently participated in virtual training sessions with Senior Master Rhee. The training and tuition I received during the sessions has been invaluable.Senior Master Rhee has a wealth of knowledge and is an experienced and professional instructor. His understanding of Taekwon-Do allows him to identify strengths and weaknesses that students possess. Senior Master Rhee will endeavour to explain best practice by giving advice on how to correct techniques. He explains information by way of stories and examples that makes it clearer to understand the different techniques and why they are used. Senior Master Rhee teaches with extremely high standards which helps me as a mature aged student to be the best that I can be. Participating in virtual sessions has significantly helped with training, techniques and confidence in Taekwon-Do.

I was involved with another Taekwondo school for many years in my youth, all the way until I was one belt away from black. I returned to Taekwondo last year at ITFA, the training program, requirements and expectations are MUCH higher than my previous school. In the short time I have been at ITFA I have become a far better practitioner of the art than I had ever been. Senior Master Andrew Rhee and the other black belts are accommodating, encouraging and knowledgeable, always willing to help junior students. The community within the dojang is amazing. With a real family feel and everyone supporting one another and helping each other succeed. If you're looking for a way to develop your self-discipline, fitness and have some fun, I thoroughly recommend ITFA. Coming back to Taekwondo, specifically ITFA has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time.

Joining the ITFA in 2019 was one of the best life-decisions I have made. The depth of Taekwon-do knowledge, experience and rich history that Senior Master Rhee VIII Dan and the team of dedicated Black Belts & Instructors bring to each class is both inspiring & motivating. My experience at ITFA continues to challenge & push me beyond what I thought I could ever achieve. A great place to learn self-defence, Taekwon-do and essential life skills, plus meet a great diverse range of people who are all like family.
