Food is delicious and great vibe. Unfortunately, every time I come for sit down meal I end up standing in line for well over 10 minutes just to order because they only have one register taking orders even on Sat/Sun lunch time. Customers are slow! They are undecided, accidentally look at the wrong menu, don’t know their table number, cards declined…. This creates a huge queue. They should have the second register over near the food pass open too but they never do :-(

Magnificent views...Nice selection....But get the drinks out FIRST AND FASTER22mins just for a drink REALLYI ordered and ate the breakfast burito and still waited 5mins for my coffee And the weren't busy...Prices reasonableBut staff need to be more motivated and observant in getting meals and drinks out and not returning empty gabded but clear tables on return instead on individual trips....Very disappointed on a special occasion...Took the gloss off

This is the surf club that Bondi always wanted. Beautiful building with amazing views. We went to the pub side (as opposed to the restaurant) - and am not convinced the restaurant would be worth the extra expense given view is basically the same. Food was good - menu a bit limited - fish and chips definitely the dish to get for my money.

Very pleasant staff who were attentive and friendly. Great outlook, one of the best vistas on the coast for sure. Did enjoy the meals even though they weren't chips but fries. Had salt and pepper calamari as well as chicken club sandwich. Good food in an outstanding position. One young lady happily serving and cleaning, was awesome to experience. Love your work.Would recommend a visit especially on a sunny day, unbeatable.

Thank you for the amazing experience. I didn’t enjoy the dessert as much as I’d hoped, but the cocktail was beautiful and Arancini and the pasta was perfect. Wonderful view and great service

Beautiful location! Stunning views. We saw a pod of dolphins swim by as well as whales breaching. Food was delicious. Good coffee. Staff were very friendly. It was very busy at 9:00am. Wait time for food wasn’t too bad but we had to linger to grab a table when one became free. Worth visiting.

Rare for me to bother posting a sub-par review but rare to feel so disappointed. First time back at Merewether Surfhouse since the renovations. Was very much looking forward to the lovely service, menu and quality of food that I had experienced consistently on all past visits. At first glance, as I’m sure any newbies will attest, the downstairs looks modern and quite lovely. Comparing it to what it was, however, it is a great disappointment. Previously, you’d be on the top floor for the restaurant and the bar and downstairs had the bustling cafe and the pizza/chips/beer spot next door. This beautiful location seemed to cater for everyone with all the separate and differing options. I didn’t go to the bar or restaurant upstairs today so can’t comment on them but it was sad to see the downstairs changed … it’s all-in-one now with very much a bar full of alcohol and a mainly Mexican menu and the Mexican dish I ordered was considerably disappointing. I just can’t understand why the owners made the change. Whilst the incredibly stunning views will always be a draw card for many, there are other places in Newcastle that do much better Mexican dishes and others still who will benefit from the locals seeking to experience a lovely menu, service and quality of food that you used to get from Merewether Surfhouse. ps one star for the incredible location, the other for the lovely person who took my order. ☺️
