Highly recommend Hot Copper studio for any one looking for a new tattoo!I saw Meighan Mary and she did the most wonderful job of adding some flowers to a tattoo I already had. She knew exactly what she was doing and made it really custom to what I wanted and worked it around my other tattoos.She also was really friendly and welcoming.I also watched some of Mels work, and she was also doing some beautiful designs and was really friendly.Wouldn’t bother visiting another studio now as this one is one of the best in Melbourne in my opinion.

From the moment you walk in the team at Hot Copper make you feel right at home!They’re so warm and welcoming. The vibe is so nice and I instantly just felt like I was in a room of friends.The studio also is incredibly professional and at the highest standard.I flew in from Sydney to get tattooed by Clare and the piece turned out better than I could have ever imagined it to be.The art work every single person that works here speaks for it self - they’re the best in the country at what they do!I would highly recommend booking in here with anyone that calls Hot Copper home.

I got a tattoo from Georgia Swale! I absolutely adore her work, I love my tattoo, the studio is amazing - friendly artists, clean, welcoming, everything you could want. I could not recommend Hot Copper more highly!

I had VERY high hopes for this place judging by the word of mouth stories and reviews I saw before I finally booked in to HC. I was explicit in my needs and preferences prior to booking in and bounced emails back and forth for MONTHS prior to deciding on an artist. I was completely up-front about my fears and issues due to past tattoo experiences.Here is why I think 2 start is generous, despite how awful I feel about leaving negative feedback for any business;1) I specified accessibility multiple times prior to making my booking and was NEVER informed that the only entrance to the studio was up a long, narrow and rickety flight of stairs.2) I gave full disclosure about my body type and its requirements. The bed was flimsy, the height didn't adequately adjust and I didn't feel safe at all for the duration of the tattoo. I also had to hold my arm out straight with no adequate support for the entire tattoo.3) I specifically requested an artist that was comfortable looking at a rough draft of an image and then free-handing water colour. I got a stencil of my own draft, which was then Ombre filled with a solid black outline.4) This is a semicolon tattoo, it is for ME not others to view, as such I was very specific about it facing me not my fingertips, and that it was to be centred on my forearm when I was looking at it. The artist refused, saying she knew how to centre a design to the lines of the body. After some debate she moved it, but when it was finished, it is DEFINITELY not where the final stencil was laid out, it's back off to the side at pretty much every viewing angle.5)The black outline that I didn't want is blown out.6) There is a fresh shiny new scar measuring 12mm by 4mm running up the length of the tattoo, that is white and rejected the pigment.I am supremely unhappy. I AM however, relieved beyond words that I used a small tattoo to 'trial' this place. I almost started with a huge tattoo and would have been gutted if this kind of fiasco had occurred after a 5 hour outline rather than a 2 hour bit piece. It doesn't salve the fact that a tattoo which had a LOT of personal meaning for me, and my FIRST visible tattoo is so patently sub par. I've had several ppl ask if I inked it myself.

Travelled from Sydney to Hot Copper to get a tattoo from Claire. I couldn't be more stoked with it - I got a memorial piece for my darling cat who passed away last year.Everyone is so welcoming and friendly and I was made to feel at home as soon as I entered. Also the decor is sick.Would definitely recommend!

We have used Hot Copper many years ago and found the artist amazing. My recent experience has not been so great. We talked about a floral mandala design which I expected to be finer than what it end up. When the design was put on me it looked fine as the outline assuming it would be the styles we discussed and looked at. The work was too heavy handed, I initially thought it would fade. I was in touch with the artist straight away to have it fixed as I mentioned I wasn't happy with it. I have followed up now a few times and haven't heard back. I personally am now having the whole thing removed after consultation with other artists, the work was not thought out and the designs put together just look like a mash up rather than a coherent piece. There isnt shading where needed and from the opinion of a few other artists, it just wasnt executed well. I am also suprised because she has work on her page with similar designs to the style i thought I was having. I wish I could atleast get my money back to put towards the expensive removal. I do not recommend this place. Feeling very upset from this whole experience.

Great shop, relaxing, welcoming & lovely female tattoo artists! Brittany Kilsby is my go to girl! Can do all kinds of styles & excellent at everything!

Had the most wonderful experience here! The building is private and feels away from the busy feeling that Preston can have. Lots of indoor plants, good tunes, but most importantly, super friendly and patient artists. I had 3 tattoos by Yas and I absolutely love them (she's super gentle, too, barely felt a thing).Do yaself a favor and book in!

Great place and great people. Really enjoyed their friendly conversations too. Went to get tattooed of a reaper from Clair on Friday 1st Nov. They also have a really good after care solution aswell which is very handy, mess free and you don't have to worry about getting bedsheets etc dirty. Just depending where the tattoo is located you may need someone to help you with putting the dressing on.
