New Italy Museum Inc

*This is a review for the cafe only, not the museum*Stopped off for a bite to eat here today. Was very disappointed in how our food was served. My husband and I both ordered the frittata and salad along with a hot drink each. The frittata was served in a plastic take away container and the salad in a separate one, so that was 4 plastic containers for the 2 of us in 2 paper bags, plus we then got given wooden cutlery and our drinks in take away cups! That’s an awful lot of rubbish and plastic waste. Why can’t food be served on a plate, especially when there are 2 elements to a meal that ideally you’d want to eat together, and drinks in mugs/cups?Won’t be stopping again and wouldn’t have stopped this time if we’d known.

A nice cafe off the Pacific Highway soon to be the Pacific Motorway when finished means our Government can sell it off as a toll road so we taxpayers are then charged to used our roads paid by our taxes.However it has meant the New Italy museum and cafe have a new sealed carpark that is a big improvement over the old dirt park.The complex traces the history of Italian settlement in the area.Displays include artifact's as well as extensive photo's.The cafe has a wide range of light meals as well as light options. They need to have better quality control as I ordered a toasted chicken and mayo sandwich but instead received a toasted chicken and lettuce. Now anyone should wonder about toasted lettuce? Really dried up lettuce!Service is reasonably quick and to your table.The toilets are in a separate building that asks for donations for them?

Love this place. Great history, the courage and the early settlers was amazing as was the compassion and leadership shown by Sir Henry Parkes to get these migrants somewhere to live.

Stopped in twice here for coffee, you would really appreciate this place and the hard work the immigrants put in from the time they arrived. A really historical place that's been beautifully looked after and great coffee to boot. A top place for a pitt stop as its on the highway.

I didn't know this place existed as I haven't driven along the highway for a long time. I passed it but glad I turned back to have a look. I suggest people make this place a stop when traveling along the highway.Added: I visited a second time it’s even better. I’ve added more pics.

What a different kind of road stop with a museum cafe and great food and facilities.

I loved this museum! A jump in the past for who has got an Italian background. Really recommend! There is also a lovely shop!I had lasagna for lunch, small poece but worth the money spent! Go try it!

Nice stay over while coming from sydney towards gold coast. It's has rich history of Italian immigrants who moved to lismore. Lot of info about history in their museum

Really impressed - hadn’t stopped here before but will definitely return. We had really good burgers and the staff were very friendly. The museum is interesting and the grounds well kept. Well worth the stop.
