Hughes Lawyers

Useless not only did they process an earlier version of my purchase contract for a higher price than final contract but the settlement was a complete shambles. Settlement was 3 dec I will not receive cleared funds from them from their trust account until 13 Dec. 10 days to receive nearly $70,000 due to me. Do not trust them. I am reporting to law commission

Lazy and/or inexperienced!!!!Be aware that they rely on simply sending instant messaging to the banks and will not pick up a phone to escalate a matter for settlement leaving sellers open to litigation.Lazy lawyer. Placed all the blame on the bank who came back with proof that every possible avenue to get settlement done was not used. Bank would have been able to comply with settlement had she done her job correctly.Either very inexperienced or very lazy.

VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND ESCALATING FEESI received a promotional offer in the post for conveyancing. They were offering a flat fee of $395.00. As I was away, my secretary phoned office and spoke to Gina directly to ask her about the offer and told her that we had court orders in place and caveats to be lifted at settlement. My secretary was very clear that it may not be a straight forward settlement. Gina responded with, that is fine

Worst experience ever - my friends used this company to sell a house and buy another house on the same day. The lawyer said it was possible no problem and they were quoted $385.00 to sell and $1160.00 to buy - there was an minor issue during the sale and not once did the lawyer explain to them that the costs were going to rise. Also 2 days before settlement the lawyer phoned and advised that they couldn’t settle the same day - that there would be a week in between settlement of the houses. Luckily the sellers of the house they were buying had a good lawyer who phoned and got it sorted for everyone. Once settlement happened the lawyer then took her money out still no explanation or advice on a price increase and shortpaid the real estat agency selling the house. Totally unprofessional and would never ever recommend to anyone. By the way the increase was double what was originally quoted.

We have had three property transactions this year which Alexandra Hughes has attended to the conveyancing for us. She, as well as the rest of the team have been extremely professional, diligent and considerate to deal with. They operate an extremely efficient operation and I could not recommend them any major highly.

I initially engaged Hughes Lawyers for a Conveyancing job because my Solicitor of 40 years retired.Happily I found them to be competent , affable and didn't leave me feeling gyped. Since then they have handled two Estate matters ,new Wills and other Conveyancing.I now see Hughes Lawyers as a great replacement and they have highlighted what a crusty old fart my old Solicitor was!

Will definitely be using Hughes again. Had dramas with the bank but Gina sorted it all and everything went through easy. Good to work with, very professional and experienced, Gina even contacted us on the weekend to keep us updated - very happy and great service, well done guys and great price.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! Would never recommend anyone to ever use Hughes Lawyers, we used them as our conveying for selling and purchasing our properties and it was a complete nightmare. We even had comments from our purchasers solicitors saying they were a complete joke. Communication was terrible, they were charging us extra fees left right and centre and had to keep paying for extensions as they couldn't do the job properly. Ended up costing us more then using a top notch lawyer :(

Be aware of solicitors who engage in tactical manoeuvring to maximize their fees. Their procedures and advice can work to the detriment of contracts/deals resulting in a dreadful outcome for all parties. As a retired accountant I have seen solicitors acting in their own interest trigger contracts to crash. These solicitors acted for the other side and as I had a useless lawyer who was easily intimidated, they were able to control events to add fees (penalties).
