The people running this business need to go back and learn how to cook. We just ordered and the fishcakes were over cooked and near burnt and the 2 kids Pluto pups were so over cooked that the batter was hard. When Sylvia was running the place the food was always so yummy but unfortunately this business has fallen by the way side.Would like to know when was the last time they changed their oil as the food had a weird taste food was so bad it went into the bin. Will definitely not be ordering from here again and would not recommend it to anyone. The ham and cheese toasties I just made was way better than anything from Sylvia's takeaway. Can't see this place being open to much longer.

I have been a long time customer of Sylvia’s..have been getting Uber eats since it went live and the option of chips is $5….it has slowly been getting smaller and smaller portions. Todays wasn’t even enough to fill myself. We used to be able to feed all 4 of us on $5 chips. Very disappointed. Will no longer be getting our fish and chips from here

Wow the chips here are the best fish and chip shop chips ever and the fish is nice and fresh and flaky with a nice moist and tender inside I highly recommend you check this place out because this is definitely a hidden gem in Newcastle

We’ve been coming to Sylvia’s for years and years but I felt disappointed tonight. Not with the food but the service. The lady in the light blue top was rude, loud and abrasive, and didn’t give me confidence she knew her own menu very well nor her own shorthand! She wrote down P for Pluto Pup then read it back as plain burger, etc. I went through it again until I was sure she could decipher her own notes correctly. Ultimately it was an unpleasant experience all from one person’s attitude, demeanour, and manner of communication.You can get chips and scallops at many places; the store shouldn’t be making dealing with them unpleasant if they wish to retain business.I suppose fortunately for them they stay open longer than competitors on the same street.

Unbelievably yummy food and even better value! $9 for 4 decent sized fish pieces, a truckload of chips, and a drink. Such a satisfying meal! Hope they remain the same, will love to come back!

Have been eating take away from here for quite some time now and found to be One of the best fish and chip Burger takeaways around, you can phone order and pickup soon after, always good food. New management and still seems to good value and service. Staff very helpful, friendly and accommodating

Ordered 2 seafood baskets never got the seafood sticks.Scallops were so small and the calamari tasted horrible I’ve tried alot of fish and chips shops this is the worst.The fish was good but that’s about it.

Best egg and bacon hamburger so far , size is great , meats perfect size tastes amazing , chips are great and generous sizing !! By far my favourite chip shop
