Thankyou to the whole team at the RIX, I have to say, I just had the best Steak that I've had in a long time tonight. Cooked to perfection and beautifully presented and that amazing pepper sauce. Heaven at Charters Towers.

Well priced meals with very friendly and professional staff.If you're looking for a pub meal, then look elsewhere. These meals are very well presentednot overpriced, and the staff attempt to cater to every need.

Went for a family friends gathering, ordered $100 steaks and chicken, steaks were not worth the cost from foodworks and was rudely insulted that we have had too many drinks to judge a good steak by the owner, chicken was raw, microwaved, and still raw. Spent nearly $1000 and was escorted out by security after voicing opinions to the arrogant owner. 0/10 dont waste your money.

Kicked out for wearing a sleeveless shirt. There were plenty of others in sleeveless shirts and my outfit was business casual with designer (Prada) and contemporary (Ralph Lauren), no visible logos, tailored pants and black leather boots. Everyone was so confused and the older woman who ordered staff to do this to me couldn't even look at me. Don't come here if you're young and hot

We were really excited to be dinning at the Rix. The reviews seemed great and we have only heard good things. Our son who boards says everyone always ask have you eaten at the RIXWe arrived and was greeted by the smell of stale alcohol in carpet. I know this smell well. Then we were greeted by a polite young lady behind the bar who served us. We were shown to our table and ordered. The dining room is very nice if not a little dark. Glad we got the window table.Entree was very nice really enjoyed it.Mains -Chicken parmi very nice.Tri of pork - online is says it is served with w/ seared scallops, Australia king prawns & crisp chorizo served w/ pea & cauliflower puree. None of this came with the meal. if they have changed it ok but was expecting more. There was a croquet that was cold in the center and bland. The rest of the meal was very good and the pork belly amazing.$85 Wagyu This was the most disappointing even thou it was very nice. It lacked seasoning which is fine but it looked almost stewed, so no caramelization or and we order Med-Rare and was served Med-well. When you order an $85 steak you expect it to be cooked right.Overall, we would have given a 4 star, but the waitress continued to set our table by placing the cutlery down holding the tines and blades of our cutlery, you know the end we put in our mouths. Each time we just cringed and then clean them, with our napkins.We will give the Rix another go and change the review if it improves. We really hope so.

To start off this place for a small country town far from civilisation and other hospitality delights itHolds its own for producing some lovely food.Some little issues with service and a few minor tweaks with the menu, seasoning and plating and this place could be amazing .Still it's a great find In charters towers

The people who own this Hotel have refurbished the front of house into a very comfortable establishment. They have kept some of the older highlights, much to their credit. The staff and food in the restaurant were well above average. Pay no attention to the exterior of the building, go in and enjoy

Got to our room in the evening and WiFi was very bad... But that was only the beginning of our bad experience. There was used soap in the shower from the previous person who stayed there, also used milk in the fridge. Under the bed were empty water bottles. There was dirt on the sheets on the bed. People were talking and playing music until late at night outside our room. Worst $140 I've ever spent! No sleep at all! Had to go to a family member's funeral the next day. Really dissatisfied and disappointed.
